Feeling the kick of a turbo for the first time is the best feeling in the world. Especially if you installed it yourself.
@adamhayden5152 Жыл бұрын
Nah, just getting to experience boost for the first time when you never have before is super cool. I’m 42 and just bought my first turbo’d car. 2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0T 272hp 260 tq stock. Super cool to feel that boost build, can really feel it around 3k it starts really pulling. I bought the car in Jan 2022 and spent 10k in performance and cosmetic changes it’s now on E50 With aux fueling making 320wheel hp. My next plan is building the motor to handle more power. So forged internals zzp stage 3 cam and 20g hybrid turbo I’ll be around 450 wheel.
@quillmaurer6563 Жыл бұрын
@@adamhayden5152 Sounds pretty impressive. My first experience with forced induction was my dad's '96 Camaro, which has an aftermarket Procharger-style supercharger installed on it. I've only driven it a few times, only see my mostly-estranged dad on rare occasions. That car makes something like 475 horsepower, which in a way actually makes the boost harder to utilize - it's so powerful to begin with you have to go out of your way to see even a couple PSI before blasting way through the speed limit, even on the freeway. My dad usually drives it as gently as a granny, has only fully unleashed it once or twice. My next boost experience, the first turbo (at least that I know of, some modern cars are turbo but so muted you'd never know, more lag from the auto trans than the turbo) was in my '73 Volkswagen Super Beetle. Spring/summer 2020 (pandemic project) I added a turbo to it. Not a huge amount of boost, 8 PSI or so, but I figure that bumped power from the stock 60 to maybe 90 HP, I've not had it on a dyno. Thus not a fast car by any means even with the turbo. But the engine responds very well to boost, feels like more than proportional to manifold pressure. And being relatively low power means I actually use the boost on a regular basis. Car is an absolute hoot to drive. Yet still workable as a daily, only notable turbo-related issues I've had with it are cheap exhaust gaskets blowing out (not designed for boost) and hoses popping off. The turbo actually improved my fuel economy a little bit, too - wasn't really expecting that but certainly not complaining!

How's the drivability? When I boosted my BRZ, it took DAAAYS of back and forth with the tuner before it drove smoothly in the lower RPMs.

About how much does getting someone to tune your car cost? Did they charge hourly for you or did they keep at it until it was right after the initial cost?
@CCc-ve2yj4 жыл бұрын
@@SteveFordham1 it all depends but most people pay around 400 min and it is a set amout of time

I don’t remember how much exactly, it was a couple years ago but it was a one time fee until it was perfect
@Z32andCG64 жыл бұрын
From my understanding the boxer motors need some extra attention in general, especially if you still run unequal length headers. This platform has been around so long that I'd think they have a pretty good baseline to start building the tune.
@MrWrl1014 жыл бұрын
Your tuner needs to be retrained. Sounds like they was just throwing things at your ride and if it worked great. Lol
