Wow! Thanks for this review. I bought this Rogue about a month ago and I had no idea what to expect out of the AWD system! This is the only video I have seen that covered the topic. I'm very impressed with the results!!! Good job Nisaan! BTW, I absolutely LOVE my 4X4 Frontier. I have it set up as an overlander with a camper, kitchen, toilet, and outside solar shower. That thing goes anywhere!

Very very good video, knowing that you could put your vehicle at risk. This video helps us to understand the great power of nissan rogue. I really want to buy it, but I have to keep waiting since this product hasn't arrived in Chile yet 🇨🇱. Just one question. Is it possible that you can make us a video of Nissan Rogue off road in the beach sand? It would be very happy to see the behavior of this great suv. Greetings from Chile🇨🇱.

Superb review as usual EA. I’m relieved the new rogue has lost none of it’s traction magic. Might have to give this a look once the Suzuki gives up the ghost. Does it still have the traction lock for 50/50, I might have missed that in your review? 👍

Thanks again Paul! As far as I know there is no longer a lock button or ability to do that through the screens. It would be nice, but off-road mode seems to pretty much do that anyway.

@EngineAdventures2 жыл бұрын
It seems with these new cars (all of the media vehicles are usually around 3k-6k miles when I get them) that they are quicker to put off smells than vehicles with more miles. That's also why I let the vehicle rest after the articulation test hill and then once again before finishing the steep climb. Either way, I'm not very nice to these things! Thanks for watching!

@@jacobkowalczyk5330 Thanks for sharing your experience! End user reviews are (in my opinion) more important than journalist reviews because typically journalists don't have the vehicles for very long, so their perception is based on very limited data.

If they swap the CVT with a nice 8 or 9 speed torque converter auto I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Even better, get a 10 speed with a crawler gear... They wouldn't be able to keep them on the lot. Well, if they can make them that is 😁

It's really a nice car..it's interior comfort is unmatched. One thing that I don't like is it's suspension, it's quite soft, should be little more firm.

I thought it was fine in the one I tested. However, I never really had it loaded with anything other than myself and camera gear, and it didn't have very many miles on it. I'm sure with more weight and more miles things would loosen/soften a bit.

@@scott8919 - A couple of years ago, my wife wanted one of these. She liked many features of the Rogue, and she actually liked the way the CVT worked. I had to talk her out of it because of the CVT - they work okay, I guess, but I feel that they are not durable enough. I did give her one point … The Rogue had the most comfortable seats in class, even for large guys.

I am definitely sold on the Subaru Forrester wilderness. The Rogue just can’t compete off road yet.
@EngineAdventures Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't expect the Subaru to be much, if any, better. I had an in Outback on the test hill before it got really tore up, and the Outback had to take the easiest line on the hill to make it up. That line didn't exist when I filmed this Rogue, so the comparison isn't equal, but my guess is the Rogue would perform very similarly to the Forester and Outback.
@JSBowling2011 Жыл бұрын
@@EngineAdventures Well I'm talking about the Subaru forester wilderness which is built for the off road so I guess we really can't compare that to the Rogue until they come out with an Outlander Rogue
@EngineAdventures Жыл бұрын
I see what you're saying now. The added lift, tires and skid plates are what you mean for more capability. All that will help. I was more referring to the AWD system and how it functions. The wilderness has the same symmetrical AWD system as the Outback I tested. I'm sure it's slightly updated, but I wouldn't expect performance to be much different. I did see that the wilderness has revised gearing, which would also help. I'll have to see if I can find one to test!

I try all the modes (sometimes on camera, sometimes not) with this one the off-road mode did really well at braking the spinning wheels, but it did so too well and it couldn't rev high enough to get the engine in the power range. I love the new Nissan lineup, they do great at what they're designed for... which probably isn't this, haha.

Having the right tires for the terrain is very important! However, this test isn't as much about the tires as it is about the vehicle's ability to get power to the wheels with traction. In this case one or two wheels are essentially in the air it doesn't matter what kind of tires you have. I blame the tires when all 4 wheels are spinning at the same rate.

I don't understand the reason for trying off road in Spot snow mode etc 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the driving nodes are supposed to come for the terrain modes god that's what we did to you 🙃🙃😄😄😄😄😄😄
@EngineAdventures Жыл бұрын
Often sport mode is the most capable for these crossovers with torque that doesn't come on until high RPM. The more aggressive throttle of sport mode allows the engine to get to higher revs faster, thus getting into the higher torque range and being able to still climb while the brake based limited slip is working. Snow mode is great for precise movements as it deadens the throttle, giving the driver more control. I use the drive modes now as a throttle sensitivity controller than for what they claim they should be used for.
