I like that you didn't just get another expensive gun. Especially these days people need good opinions on more affordable equipment. Great video. Thanks.

You're welcome. I actually have a lot of success with the airbrush. I have three of them and I keep a different needle and nozzle in each one so that I am always ready. I was talking to them and suggested they speak with you. I figured you were the right guy for this. I did give them one other name. But I knew that you could give an honest clear review of he airbrush. One thing you didn't mention, not only do you get a great value with the airbrush, but if you ever need to replace and needle or a nozzle, it is considerable less money to buy the parts for the Neoeco than the Iwata. I have been painting with Neoeco for over a year now. I actually put my Eclipse in the back up position. I just fell in love with the Mac valve. I have three of them and I keep a different needle and nozzle in each one so that I am always ready. I was talking to them and suggested they speak with you. I figured you were the right guy for this. I did give them one other name. But I can't tell you how wonderful their customer service is. Any question or issue I have had has been handled without question quickly and to my benefit. As to your question about cleaning, I find them much easier to clean than the IWATA Eclipse and I have less dry tip issues with the Neoeco SJ83. I was surprised ot see this because last time I talked with Frank at Neoeco he said he hadn't heard back from you.

I bought that same brush a few months ago but haven't started painting yet. It gets some great reviews from airbrush guys. That gun is probably worth it just for the extras alone.

I know you've cut back on the lure production videos due to the amount of time and effort involve to publish this type of comment. I'm not much into unboxings, reviews, painting only, fishing, or boat building videos. However, I do watch all your content to support this channel. You do whatever keeps this channel going and growing!

I enjoy you no frills honest approach to your tool reviews. This airbrush is definitely higher quality than the one I bought initially to play with and learn, but still isn’t going to break the bank. You should make a link in your shop so that you can get a little kick back from the products that you review and like. I still haven’t seen anyone do a “trash” video on a product that turned out to be absolutely garbage… who knows, maybe you can be the first. As always, Love your videos Alan

I hope I don't have to spend money on a product that's junk... although a video would be a consolation, I guess.

As long as you're still producing quality lure building content (which is the reason I support your channel), I will concede to your other offsetting content to balance your load. Stand-alone single product reviews aren't really my thing, unless I'm researching something to purchase. However, "Project Farm" does some killer product comparison that I find interesting.

Would say the iwata eclipse hpcs, but when they hell did they jump to $170!? They were only $100 when I bought a few couple years back. Think I paid $170 for harder and Steinbeck’s infinity cr plus, now those are pushing $400. Holy heck!!!

If you live near a Hobby Lobby, they sell the Eclipse HP-CS bundle (comes with some small extras) for $150.

I mentioned "Project Farm" and his comparison videos in my previous comment. That got me to thinking... You could do a comparison video for clear coats. Maybe test for durability and/or discoloration (clearness). I would certainly be interested it the result. Types of resins/epoxies to evaluate would be something like, Devcon, BSI, TrueCoat, KBS, UV, boat resin, tabletop resin, etc. Comparing different brands/types of glue for bonding two pieces of wood together (lure halves). I see folks using Elmer's wood glue, Tight Bond water proof glue, 2-part epoxies, super glue, Gorilla Glue that needs water to active, etc. What forms the best bond? If I recall, you did some testing for twist-eye pull-out using different types of glue. But comparing different types of tool and/or products commonly used in lure making would be interesting content.

I have 3-guns connected to my air source for painting. 2 masters, .3 & .5 needles. I also have a nice Iwata set up with a .2 needle. Over the last year I bet I haven’t used the Iwata 10 minutes. My masters are work dogs and do fine for painting baits.

Great review Franco, nice looking set that. Might have to keep it in mind if I ever need another one. Hey on another topic, would you consider making an OSP Bent Minnow lure? Just stumbled upon it when looking for inspiration and it's kinda cool. Would love to get your take on it and a bit of an idea of the physics side of things from you. Anyway thanks again for another top video 👍

I really enjoy your videos. Have you ever considered writing an illustrated book for lure makers? You could illustrate a bunch of "generic" lure designs and have various methods/tools and materials that wannabe lure makers could reference along with the math to figure desired sink rates, weight placement, material density etc... I would definitely buy a copy of "lure making for dum dums 101".

Speaking of beginners, does anyone have a suggestion for a safer, cheaper alternative to a belt sander for shaping lures? I'm looking for a way for a kid to be able to shape a lure relatively quickly, with good symmetry but not send the lure (and possibly a fingertip) flying across the basement. Thanks.
@EngineeredAngler
@EngineeredAngler 10 ай бұрын
Some wood rasps would be much safer than carving blades.

I bought a belt sander so that I could start making lures. So I bought it in preparation. Then to find out, I was using regular sand paper and those 4 sided sanding sponges far more than needing a belt sander. In saying that, I use mostly Basswood for my lures, so it's an easier carve and sand.

Not related to this but UV resin, since I always do a base coat with resin or other clear on my lures before painting, would it be a viable option to dye the resin with base color (white or black)? That would save some time not having to paint with base color and drying it. Could there be any issues with that? Not really worrying about the resin not hardening due to UV light not passing the whole layer since its pretty thin anyways.
@EngineeredAngler

Yes but it should be transparent dye
