Thank you for jumping in front of my car. No comments on this comment?! At what point do I stop blaming myself for not understanding? The life-long recurrent answer: When I get pissed off for being stupid! What is implied when coming onto a documented space of communication, where clearly (for me anyway) relevance is not questioned? For example, (and this is “ADVICE!”) “The blue wires leads [sic] to something [?] that is held simply [I mean how simple can one get?] by a small screw, [sic] you don’t need to declip [sic] the connector witch [sic; not a twist on “switch”] will save u [really sic] a lot of time. [time by the lot-full].” I didn’t see any “blue wires” in this video. Maybe that’s where I went wrong. Sure, then any imagination could go anywhere. In this ever-compressing world of time, do we really have time for every say-so? Or maybe the more stupid I become the more I am able to question my search for TRUTH in the first place. A preference proven to more easily lead me astray, a go-to sign for the sheep of the naïve and a very dangerous consideration for the wise. Human intelligence seeks enlightenment. It’s too late to learn that jumping off a cliff will teach one to fly. [Anti-gravity buffs excepted of course!…Especially so.]

I messaged them and asked them why they do not recommend it... they said they’ve sold thousands of these and anyone who tries to pin those cables, breaks it... they said maybe the aftermarket connector is not designed to accept new pins.. he said it would also void the warranty... I guess I am curious where you got your part from? Was it an OEM part from another Honda donor or was it aftermarket? Idk why I care about the beeping so much but I just want all OEM functionality working lol...

Would a bad ignition switch cause your fuel pump to have priming issues?
@EngineeredMojo2 жыл бұрын
Possibly, the fuel pump is controlled in combination by the ignition switch and ECU/ECM. Bad switch could not be sending signal, but usually that is an issue when car is actually running since the ignition circuit is providing the power during driving. If your pump isn't priming at start up, I'd first check your fuel pump relay

Was the ignition switch the issue in the end?
@Kista79 Жыл бұрын
@@EngineeredMojo I have fixed the car and so far has been fine since replacing the switch. I will say repinning the wires is a huge pain in the rear... Honda should've just added a quick connect, you have to physically unpin the cables from the one connector and then add them into the new one, it's 2 wires, I ended up mangling the old connector to get them out. I messed up when installing it and cracked the housing a tiny bit but it's still working fine, I didn't have it properly lined up as shown @8:40 on the column, I had to use my key to turn it just a bit for the switch to align properly, it wasn't seated properly and I tried to tighten it which put a small crack in it. I ended up replacing the ECU as well, sorry it was definitely a weird issue for me, and after replacing both parts at first it still wouldn't start but I don't remember what I did but it's working great now. I had already replaced the main relay several years ago just because I knew that it could be a common issue and didn't want to take a chance of getting stranded somewhere.
@EngineeredMojo Жыл бұрын
@@Kista79 that's awesome to hear you were able to fix your vehicle. Some fixes aren't straightforward which can definitely be annoying, but the payoff of a cheaper fix and car running is a nice payoff. De-pinning is one of my least favorite activities. I keep telling myself I will buy a practice harness just to get good at depin haha. Keep enjoying your car and appreciate you coming back to provide the update 😀
@Kista79 Жыл бұрын
I replaced the ECU because before with my scantool it showed that it couldn't connect to the system which typically means an issue with the unit itself, mine is an HX so they are even harder to find. I know the ECU provides power to the fuel pump, when I had issues before it wouldn't run when you turned the key so maybe that was my issue, at least replacing the switch is something I shouldn't have to worry about doing again. The worst thing about these cars is now the age and finding new parts is getting harder to find and I wouldn't think anyone would be willing to pay for a brand new ECU if you could even find one that is. When it failed it was totally odd, I was leaving from work and just started the car, it was running for a few and I put it in reverse to back out and it just died on me. I've also replaced those rubber pieces on the pedals but still once the car is running they don't come into play anymore at least not for the clutch pedal, if the one on the brake pedal fails it leaves your brake lights on and will kill the battery.
@EngineeredMojo Жыл бұрын
@@Kista79 that's the truth on parts becoming harder to find. It used to be 10 to 15 years ago finding parts for a 92-00 Honda was easy and also relatively cheap. Hoping these cars hold nostalgic value going forward so manufacturers still create parts whether OEM or OE

My solution to that would be to go to a junk yard to find that similar wire clip end from a Honda/Acura. I'd snip off the male portion and about 3" of extra wire. Or an easier option is to buy a cheap new Honda wire sub harness online (virtually any wire pin harness for your generation Honda as they are all the same from what I've seen), de-pin, and take that pin for your wire. You can either solder with new male metal clip on your wire or crimp entire new piece in place on your original wire. I've had to do similar on other wires on my actual engine harness. It's not bad to fix

Hey bro what if you have an aftermarket alarm system and they spliced into the ignition switch harness?? Do i have to undo the splice and re do it?

I would think you could tap into the splice, I haven't run across that personally. What did you end up doing?

@EngineeredMojo i had to cut the wires coming from the aftermarket alarm and splice them into the new ignition harness i think they did that for the remote start to work.
