Excellent - not only did the chap understand what the scrub radius was, he knew why it was importand and explained it well. It's also why if one is planning to have a square setup - same wheel and tyre size on all 4 corners - one should do the front end first and them use the differential housing width that the wheel offset requires for the correct fit in the rear wheel wells.

This series reminds me of when I was 10 years old and used to get up early to watch the Powerblock on TNN. That's part of what got me into hot rodding. You folks are doing it for the younger generation, and that's awesome! About as awesome as Kibbetech's shop.

Been there a couple times. Was going to have them install some parts on my 3rd gen on a Friday but got a haul going out Thursday night so I ended up installing the intercooler, boost tubes and monster ram on the street in front of their shop. Good thing too because my kit was missing the rubber washers for the monster ram so one of the techs there hooked a fella up. Still would love to shake the hand of Mr.Banks someday and thank him for being awesome.

Another great episode, guys! I'm looking forward to more schooling from Gale in the next episode! Also, please don't let the negativity get to you all. Though I do think these shows would benefit from more detail in the technical side of things, the lighthearted stuff is definitely not out of place. Specifically for this video, it would've been really neat to see the CNC machines at work on the spindle pieces! It would've been awesome to see the welding process and the final assembly, too! Keep up the great work on the truck, though! I can't wait to see it roast tires and lay frame when it's finished! On a different note, my video is already over 300 views! Thank you so much for commenting on it! It's really been a huge boost to my channel! Because it's doing so well, to advertise my channel and make a statement, I'm having some decals made for the back of my truck that I think you all would be interested in seeing. Along with a decal showing my KZbin name, I'm putting a banner on the back window of my truck that says "If it's smokin', it's broken!", and a hashtag to go with it that says "#clean_diesel". Just a little clarification, you don't actually want zero scrub radius as it leads to some unpredictable driving characteristics. Ideally you want close to zero but not actually zero.

Bingo! And why the uniballs? Unless there’s going to be a ton of travel?

@@rickrack78 well, I understand uni-balls from a designer's perspective. They're known to be reliable and replaceable for future service. If I had them at my disposal, for a one off build, that's probably what I'd do too. I was just clarifying that when he was talking about how zero scrub radius makes it very easy to operate a manual steering rack, he didn't clarify that you don't actually want exactly zero scrub radius.

@@rickrack78 honestly I can't tell what they are because I'm not the designer. They just look like cad drawings of ball joints to me. Anyway, I'm not real knowledgeable about uni-balls, but like any joint if it clunks it's ready to be replaced. I'd imagine they squeak more if they aren't clean and get damaged faster due to the lack of a dust boot.

You're 100% correct. People have used them before for high-horsepower applications. However, they're not common. You can't find an off-the-shelf 8-lug system for a slammed 1960's C10/20. You have to custom make one. That's all we're saying. But more importantly, thanks for watching. We really appreciate it!

Can we go back to the Banks educational videos, with Gale and have a separate channel for the Discovery style Bank's Bullshit, such as this video. Everytime AMSOIL gets involved with utube content, it turns to silly shit, next Banks will move to Motortrend.
@bankspower3 жыл бұрын
Considering that AMSOIL has been sponsoring Killing a Duramax and Building a Monster Truck Engine shows for sometime now, we wouldn't call those Discovery style shows. Here are the latest updates for those engine projects. 1. The 'Killing a Duramax' project is on hold while we conduct testing for our military program in Dyno Cell # 1. 2. Dyno Cell # 2 is down while we update and upgrade to our new engine AVL dyno/emissions equipment. 3. The Super Turbo (Monster Truck Engine) is in the process of being upgraded. Which means pulling everything off the current 7.0 LMM, making adjustments and changes, then installing them all on a newer second gen L5P.

@@bankspower Banks Power is about inhouse knownledge and buildling your own engines. I would like to see that in this series too. 99% of your viewers can't afford a 7k$ rear axle (IIRC that's what you estimated it would cost). Instead I would've preferred to see junkyard 14 bolt get narrowed down inhouse, show us how to get it done. Aftermarket caliper brackets with stock 1 ton rotors+calipers are cheap. You could still have a sponsor for custom lenght shafts, gears and locker. I know you said in a comment you wanted something different and that's why you went full custom - most of us cant afford that, and it looks and feels like a sponsorship. A Disney fantasy like Bob said. So I would prefer to see something I could realistically replicate myself.
