6:50. The frame section above the air bag is continuous on top, but the welds are radiused and mitered. Laser cut design benefits. -- There's a diagonal weld on the frame near the lower suspension links. Stronger than a normal 90 degree weld. -- The body mount near the crossmember has intermittent welds to allow moisture to drain and prevent corrosion. -- The floating hub uses a bolt-on cap without capturing the brake disc. You can fix a broken axle without removing the wheel, and you can replace the brake disc without removing the axle cap. Awesome. 9:49. Again with the 45 degree welds. The 90-degree weld is in compression, which is also ideal. 7:06. All spherical ends. Nice and Tight. The Watts Link bracket on the housing is nice and full of shear panels. 11:42. AN brake line ends. Once you go AN/JIC, you'll never like anything else, except for maybe ORB. -- Brake line is low, Caliper will be easy to bleed as well. -- Floating hubs are the only way axles should ever be built. Just from a maintenance standpoint, it's better. 12:27. Eaton Truetrac is awesome. I have one on my truck. Very consistent performance from that diff.

And I would sure love to go to SEMA and see this truck in person, but something like that wont fit my budget to get out there, besides I am not a member of anything that could get me in there in the first place. On the last question you said you want this truck to "ROTATE THE EARTH" We all would love to see it rotate the earth but I know it would make a small earthquake on the ground while burning rubber to do it. Thanks for the mention and great series build on this truck. 👍👍👍👍

I really like this Chassis, it's beautifully simple but artfully complex at the same time. It looks like The Roadster Shop has put their work in to deliver a product that will do whatever anyone could need. LockJaw, with the airbags, large by huge brakes and the 4 link/watts in the back would look fast when stopped but would probably be fast destroying cones in a parking lot or at 14,115 feet elevation.

I can't help but notice the front lower ball joint being in tension. A long time ago, I used to not like that design because if the ball joint breaks, you're on the ground. But those are easier to assemble, plus, the lower control arm is slightly downward. It gives you better camber gain.

Don't forget it's 1000 lb-ft at the crank, 3100 lb-ft at the transmission output shaft (in first gear), and 12,036 lb-ft at the axles, not to mention the torque converter multiplication. Let's hope those axles have a generous safety factor. The frame won't enjoy it either.
@Nonponpo
@Nonponpo 10 ай бұрын
as stated axel capacity is 9200 pounds vs about 3890 pounds at the axel with 1000 pound @ the companion flange. literally says we have a lot of overhead. "way overdesigned"
@beardwrench
@beardwrench 3 жыл бұрын
13:30 hey Gale assuming 9,200 per axle that's 18,400 of total capacity If the engine makes 1,526 lb-ft of torque X the Allison 1st gear ratio of 3.10 = 4,730 lb-ft to the rear end 4,730 X your 3.89 rear gear ratio = 18,402 lb-ft

Thanks for bringing us along on the build. That chassis is indeed art. The notebook with technical days package and owners manual are evidence of knowing the customer. Curious why it's not painted? Either it's clear coated to compliment the rat rod motif, or paint was chopped because the build schedule demanded it ship.
@bankspower
@bankspower 3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, thanks for sticking with us and watching, The frame has not been powder-coated yet because we still have some housekeeping to finish. We need to do a pre-assembly mock-up, we still have sensors and brake parts that need to be welded to the frame, and we need to decide on a color for the powder coat.

Ok, i do tuning on VAG (Volkswagen Auto Group) and BMW Diesels over in Iceland... My go to AFR is 16:1 for optimal power without fogging everything with smoke, i however have experience with going 14:1 over the peak powerband and bumping power. For an example, i'm talking about the BMW M57 BiTurbo from a 535d, with a boost target of 355kPa (atmosperic), wich is 37psi gauge pressure. It will do 398hp at 16:1 but with only fueling mods, and the same boost, same SOI, but 14:1 it will make 428hp, so why do you say smoke that you see is horsepower you see, but can't use?

Seems the Banks torque and engine/trans build is going to be stressing this frame very well// hope to see more as you progress
