If anyone is in the market for tires, now's a great time to buy! Purchase a set of 4 qualifying passenger Continental tires between November 1 - 30, 2024 and get a $110 Visa prepaid card by mail. *PROMO Link:* bit.ly/4h8JHN4 This includes any of the tires I've recently discussed on the channel (ExtremeContact Sport 02, ExtremeContact DWS06+, TrueContact Tour54, Viking Contact 7, and many more)!

Hi sir can you explain the DUAL-MODE CVT of Daihatsu/Toyota, (the inverse of DIRECT- DRIVE CVT), it utilities a planetary gear that achieves a higher gear ratio range and higher efficiency in highspeed run, the belt and pulley runs back and forth etc, no one explain here on KZbin the genius engineering on it, with your skills, i think you can give us the coolest thing about it. Actually the front vents ARE functional, but when paired with the Circuit Edition wing were found to cause instability at high speeds so Toyota installed a plug. You can actually remove the plugs, they're just held there with double sided tape. (Supposedly this issue was fixed for the 24 model so why the plug is still there on the 24 is a bit of a mystery)
@carsfeverguy15
@carsfeverguy15 3 күн бұрын
@engineeringexplained the Vent is fully functional for the air curtain on your 2024. The plate was installed at port in the US/Canada, because no one informed them of the changes…. The exit directing the air in the wheel well was changed for 2024 to address the instability , so do yourself a favor and remove the plate :)
@aprtur
@aprtur 2 күн бұрын
The 2024 changed the duct shape, but that isn't tied to why the plugs are still there - it's to balance the downforce on the front end to match the wing that's on the Circuit. None of the other trims came with the wing, so they had the vents open. The way Toyota sells the wing and plug kit as an accessory in Japan backs this - they're referred to as "downforce balancers".

What the engineers mean when they say they don't see any negative consequences from intake buildup is that it doesn't cause warranty issues, it obviously causes problems down the road, but that's not an issue for them. Dual injection is pretty much the optimal solution as it gets you the efficiency gains of DI with the self-cleaning of port injection, for the cost of a little bit of complexity and a few more parts.

That's an amazing amount of power from a 1.6L 3-cylinder engine. The 2.3L turbo 4-cylinder engine in my 2022 Ford Bronco gets only 15 more HP and 27 more torque (when running 93 octane), but it has an extra 0.7L and an extra cylinder!

On the topic of the 2024 model year being able to lock in the torque split, it actually can't. The torque split is really a suggestion. The computer will still vary the split and try to get it to that split based on conditions. But it often is not achieved and locked in as is suggested. Savagegeese explains it.
@EngineeringExplained
@EngineeringExplained 3 күн бұрын
30/70 is the target, there is no “lock” as it’s a slipping clutch. So if you’re in first gear, or at a different rpm, the amount of torque varies, so it has to constantly adjust to that 30/70 target. But the new track mode opens that up, so it’s not constantly hunting 30/70.
@coreyw427
@coreyw427 3 күн бұрын
@@EngineeringExplainedDespite what they say, have they done this primarily to reduce heat in the clutch pack? Overdriving seems like a nice idea but extra heat due to intentional slipping seems like an obvious downside, and I’m sure this is why Volkswagen, for example, don’t use this approach. I’m sure the slip is fine in general use, but ironically it probably causes too much heat when used on track. There are plenty of reports of this. Also, a slight aside on other systems being “on demand” - not sure which exactly you were referring to, but most these days are not actually on demand in the sense they respond only to slip. For example, the clutches in Haldex Gen 4, Gen 5 and Magna diff are engaged based on engine torque, pedal position, steering angle etc - not responsive to slip and have electric hydraulic pumps to enable clutch pressure as determined by the control unit (I.e. not reliant on slip like older Haldex units to drive hydraulic pump).

Hello, I am also a proud owner of 24 GRC CE (Blue Flame). I got the car for pretty much the same reason as you. 4WD, Blue Flame, bonkers rear wheel arches. As next step I will have 2 suggestions: - Replace the OEM brake pads with Endless SSM-Plus (If you don't plan to track your car). OEM brake pads are great but the amount of dust it produce is insane! Just take it for a joy ride and you get back with wheels covered in dust. - Get a intake mod (I went for K&N). The induction & BOV noise when shifting is addictive (This is a toy after all isn't it?)

I'm sorry, I need to vent on your video. I owned a 2001 Acura (Honda in England) Integra GSR with tasteful OEM+ plus mods, including built LSD transmission, built head, poly bushes, type R brakes, Greddy header, HKS quiet exhaust, stock springs, Comptech Ice Box Intake, Crower Stage 2 valvetrain, ported head, VAFCII computer piggyback, adjustable shocks etc.~Nothing "ricer" about it. It was built by a professional shop in my state of Maryland back in 2005, in perfect condition. It dynoed 171 whp just fine as recently as 2022. Though I've done my own maintenance and rebuilt the transmission myself since I bought it in 2014. It dropped a valve after 10 years of ownership back in May of 2024, either due to age, or shop employee over-revving the engine at a recent MOT inspection. I paid $5500 for the car in 2014. I recently had to sell for $4K USD because a new built engine would have cost me $12K, and I had no place to work on it. The head was too damaged to be rebuilt. And the block was pretty much done after the piston impacted the valve. I was forced to buy a POS 2005 Subaru Legacy that I overpaid for in a panic ($4k dollars). My landlord would not allow me to fix my Integra at the residence. I was in fear of having my car towed. I left it sit at a shop for 2 months , and posted on Facebook marketplace (which is a cesspool in and of itself). I got fucked. My car was irreplaceable, and had period correct modifications that are unobtainable nowadays. Stock low mileage Integra GSR are $25K dollar cars now. Type r can fetch well over $60K. In addition, the mods I had would bring the current value to over $32K ( not to mention the car had a perfect interior with all dealer paperwork and documentation going back since 2001) . I was in a tight spot with my apartment, and soon after my car blew, I underwent a botched oral surgery which kept me from working. A week after recovering from surgery, my apartment became condemned due to neighbor above me who went into rehab apparently, letting his refrigerator go rotten over a period of 4 months, which leaked through the ceiling, forcing me to move from the apartment I lived in for 20 years. A week after that, one of my redneck neighbors suffering an apparent meth-induced delusion tried to attack me while I was taking my trash out. I even made a gofundme to try to help me. I managed to raise only $300 from an ex girlfriend I had 10 years ago, who remembered us having sex in the back seat of the car a decade ago when I first bought it. (her fingernail indentations were still on the headliner, Integras have extremely small backseats). I'm very much done with cars now. Never sell your classic because you get pressured into it, or in a tight spot caused by society. You'll never get another chance at driving bliss because all new cars are absolutely devoid of feeling, soul , and inevitably are nothing more than future ocean plastic..I reached out to everyone I knew for help, but nobody cared about how much I loved the car..(including my brother who is an executive at General Motors, except knows nothing about performance cars because he drives a Cadillac Lyriq). I loved that Acura Integra GSR more than most people love their children. But the world was completely ignorant to it. The mass consumers in America are all utter morons who do not deserve driver's licenses, let alone driver's cars. My life feels ruined now.. I went from a rare example of the best handling front wheel drive car in the world, to one of the most boring derivative cars ever made. The guy I sold the car to was a huge dickhead as well, and tried to tell me "God wanted it this way." He low-balled me, used religious rhetoric, said hes going on vacation and needs to make the deal happen now, used every trick in the book until I had no choice. I gave in like a school boy being groomed by his catholic priest. The mechanic who I bought the Subaru from did the same thing. Pretended to be my friend, even invited to a barbecue and car-meet. Pretended to help me. But lied about many issues the car still currently has because I'm too depressed to be bothered. I found out later from his boss he bought the car for $300 from a drug dealer in the ghetto, and put a $800 ej253 engine it that his shop had lying around. Drove the car for 15K miles, and sold it to me for $4K... I'm honestly very much beginning to hate society as a whole. 10 years of my life is ruined..I'm broke financially, and uninterested. My business is doing very poorly due to my mental health decline. I just isolate in my new apartment now. I'm 39, and just want to die. I feel 79. I absolutely hate this Corolla. It''s ugly, has dead steering, overweight, poor visibility, poor suspension geometry, vaccum cleaner engine note, and overpriced.

I hope you are able to turn things around and find an appealing project car to pique your interest. Something rust-free from the south or west to minimize the potential frustration. I partially agree regarding the selection of new cars, meaning lack of desirable new cars. I loved my '87 Integra as well as my '98 Integra GSR. Though many don't agree, I loved my '02 RSX-S even more. When it was 10 years old, I looked for something new but found absolutely nothing I would want. So I gave it new paint and new leather and kept driving it. Until it was stolen 5 years later. I am now driving a '20 CTR which is fun to drive, but is comparatively big and heavy. I have the recovered shell of my RSX and plan to rebuild it at some point.

One of the best YT vids on the GRC but a couple important points were overlooked. The reason to buy a Circuit Edition over the lower, less expensive variants of the GRC is not only because of the much lower production numbers of the Circuit Ed that you mentioned but also, that forged carbon roof is a $15,000 part at your Toyota dealer. It is in fact the most expensive single part in the Toyota parts catalog as of this writing, even more costly then body parts for the Lexus LFA! Why does this matter? Well, think of it this way... You are able to buy a low production, handmade vehicle for only $45,000 that has technologies WAY beyond it's cost of admission. This scenario has happened before in the automotive landscape. In 2015 the Ford Mustang GT350R had a $20,000 set of carbon as standard but the upcharge over the more mundane GT350 (non-R) with standard, heavier alloy wheels was only $5000. So for $5000 you ended up with a set of $20,000 wheels (and a host of other upgrades) that shed a ton of rotating and unsprung weight. The lesson is, anyone that was given the chance to purchase a GRC Circuit or Morizo and passed will rue the day as these are the cars that will retain better long term residual values, likely enough to cover their $5000 purchase premium. I'd say it is highly probable that the blue 24' Circuit (and 23' Morizo) will be the specimens to have when these eventually become sought after collector cars in 25 years. Honda Civic Type R = FWD. Automatic disqualification as a true car freak. Jason, there is a whiff of hypocrisy calling out the VW Golf R for it's blandness after just mentioning how much you typically don't like turbocharged powerplants. Normally aspirated power is in many ways, the "Golf R" of power delivery. A bit boring. Turbocharging on the other hand is often what gives cars unique personality traits. It is one of the reasons I bought a 23' GR Corolla Circuit... I WANTED boost imperfection in a modern car. Heck, my daily driver is a 1983 Renault R5 Turbo 2. It has boost lag you can time with a egg timer. It's 185hp 1.4 liter push rod 4cyl has NOTHING below 4000 rpm and then hits like a hammer once to that mark. But since redline is only 6000rpm, you have just a 2000 rpm powerband... you find yourself VERY busy managing boost, RPM's and hammering through the gears. And even with all the imperfection, it is more fun then any of my other normally aspirated cars because it rewards the driver. When you get it right, you feel like a rally legend. Same with the GRC. When you get it right... it's a legend. Granted, a legend that weighs 1040lbs more then the Renualt. Great video and congrats on the new car purchase. ABP
