Hi, I applied to ubc in January and now I'm having a panic attack. So, in your ubc student center there is like the personal profile bit, but I thought you submitted it before with thw rest of your application?? Like did I have to resubmit it? Cause I didn't and now I am super scared cause I did it the first time just not in the student center.

Hello, it would be grateful if you could answer my question. In grade 11 I didn't do very well with a average of 68% but my grade 12 average is pretty high with a 90%. And my extra curriculars are good. Will my grade 11 grade, stop me from entering UBC ?
@EngineeringStories3 жыл бұрын
Hi Krishna, both your grade 11 and grade 12 results will be considered, you can find the details of what UBC looks for here: you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/applied/application-evaluation/ If there are any reasons your grade 11 year had a lower average, mentioning it in your application will help admissions get a better understanding of your academic background. Grade 11 will be considered, but it won't necessarily determine whether you are admissible to UBC Engineering.

I’m looking at my program for ubc, my grade 11 marks were not as good I had an 80% avg due to the pandemic and my mental health however in my current 12 year I’m looking at about 90 averages, I also have a strong personal profile with would say, however I am concerned about my grade 11 grades ruining my chances of acceptance.
@EngineeringStories2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! Every student is evaluated in a very holistic process so everything will be taken into consideration! If you are doing much better in Grade 12, then that is awesome! We'll also use your personal profile as part of the evaluation to learn about what you have done outside of the classroom. :)

Hi Oluwatoyin, congrats on keeping a high average! Make sure you continue to take the required courses for your program of choice: you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/requirements/ Meeting the requirements, keeping your grades high, and a stellar personal profile will help you to be successful! Hi I’m from the U.S. but I am a Canadian citizen, I submitted my personal profile to be eligible for the Presidential Scholars Award which is due dec 1. It says I can upload an interim transcript and act score should I do that before dec 1? Or before the deadline March 15?
@EngineeringStories3 жыл бұрын
Hi Angelo, You should receive an email from UBC with all of the deadlines for submitting any documents you need to. You can also find all dates and deadlines her: you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/dates-deadlines/ The only requirement right now is to have applied by December 1 and submit your documents by March 15 (for out-of-country documents), unless otherwise indicated in the email you receive from UBC!

Heyyyy~ I’ve got an average of 97.8 in my gr 11 courses but I just saw that 12.1 is the due date for first round considerations 2 days ago. I spent 1 day doing all the personal statement questions. Should I try the first round? Because I think I have a pretty competitive gr 11 average, while my personal statement may not be that good now😓
@EngineeringStories2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay! December 1 was the deadline for First Round Offers. If you didn't apply by then, you still have until January 15 to apply and be considered for an offer of admission! Strong grades and a strong personal profile are both important. Best of luck!

Hi Aannya, The personal profile will ask what you have done outside of the classroom. The Admissions team is looking for a good average and a good personal profile score. While you may not have been involved in volunteer activities or sports, maybe you took care of siblings at home, worked, or did other things outside of the classroom that impacted you and you can speak about.

My school offers dual-credit courses and if I take the courses will they increase the chance the same way as AP?
@EngineeringStories4 жыл бұрын
Hi Luksorn, dual-credit courses are considered and will apply to the rigour of the courses you take (when we look at breadth, rigour and relevancy). However, dual-credit courses will need to be individually assessed if you are hoping to gain transfer credit for year 1 in the same way that AP and IB courses will grant you. Hopefully that helps, but if you have more questions about admissions to UBC Engineering, please let us know!

Hi Anna, your references on your application to UBC Engineering (Bachelor of Applied Science) should be someone that is not a family member that can speak about what you wrote about in your personal profile - usually this is a coach, teacher, volunteer supervisor, etc. They'll be contacted if UBC needs more information about the details you provided in your personal profile.
