Without limits, I would do use the feynmann trick, to simply diffferentiate the x part before the e^-x. If limits are there, like 0 to infinite, me - an electronic Engineer would simply use laplace transform sorta thing. Laplace transform of t^2 and then s=1, which implies 2!/1 = 2. Electronic engineers, SHOULD remember most of the simple laplace transforms so as to escape the time-waste processes like looking up in the internet or using calculator. Sheldon thinks Howard is a cut above the rest in terms of engineers, which is why he dismisses Howards claims that Engineers are just as smart as Physicists because it would diminish Howards place as being higher up on the ladder and would essentially drop him down to the standard of mediocrity by brining every other engineer up to his level just because regardless of personal academic achievement, contributions, and education.

I can't believe people in the comments below are actually shitting on physicists, calling them unimportant at this time, and below engineers in their studies. It's like none of you even keep track of space exploration or recent discoveries. You are literally saying that someone like Stephen Hawking was below an engineer. You can't compare the two fields, because people can excel at one field than others do in their own field. It's a stupid argument, and this joke in TBBT is only played for laughs, it's not something truly conclusive. As a recently graduated medical student, I can't tell you the amount of hell my friends in physics and engineering went through. Medicine is considered one of the most difficult fields, but I can say with certainty that I would have never been able to go in and make use of engineering or physics the way I can of medicine. It's all subjective, and dependent on the person. I strongly dislike that people make comparisons of intelligence dependent on someone's field. The creativity in current engineers stems from the intelligence and theories of physicists. If there were no theorists or experimental physicists, engineers have nothing for their creativity to fall back on for them to actually make a difference in the world. I’ve taken engineering classes, and I have a friend with a masters in biomedical engineering. It’s less theory, and strongly about application. Engineers can’t just build whatever they want, unless they draft up papers on the concept and experimentally provide proof with a miniature experiment of it working. Physicists spend all their time drafting and experimentally proving theories that are put to use by engineers who cannot. They are just as important as engineers. Physicists are the ones who look at why things work, and engineers primarily look at how things work.

As Sheldon would point out, the word "physicists" is plural so there is no need for the apostrophe (just like you did it correctly with the word "engineers"). Physicist's is possessive.

For being a theoretical physicist Sheldon asked a very very numerical first question... XD

Technically Engineers are more valuable than Physicists. P.s Sheldon in the early seasons really looked down on others even his friends and saw them as beneath him. I don't care how smart you are, if you constantly feel the need to belittle people and mock them then your intelligence counts for sh.t!!

This is how Thomas Kuhn described the relationship between scientists and engineers. The work that engineers do is just as technical and difficult. But scientists still look down on them, because they are not in the club of puzzle solvers.

It all comes down whether best minds are opting for engineering or research. If best minds are opting for engineering, they will beat any scientist. Vice versa is also true. In India it's first one.

If I ever come across someone as Sheldon I'll never befriend him. I'll make sure that he gets to know how arrogant adamant and pain in the ass he is. Knowledge has no persuit if the person in the end becomes arrogant about it. Knowledge makes people humble.. Rewatching this series i understood how on point Amy's confession was in the last episode.. she made it clear how they tolerated him when he was never a good friend to anyone

(theoreticcal) physicists are always on the edge of 'what if?' engineers are either devising ways of making discoveries work, or devising means to find those theoretical discoveries, like the James Webb Space Telescope!!
