Amtrak is usually known for their carbody locomotives, a staple of passenger trains in the US. Amtrak is also, more notoriously, known for their freight locomotives converted into passenger specifications. The GP40TC was one of those, luckily though, it was far more successful than some of its early counterparts. But how exactly has this Canadian locomotive stayed on the rails for over 50 years now? Fun thing: My school bus in the morning runs right alongside 150mph NEC tracks (like feet away), and one foggy morning an engine like this (presumably one of these, a switcher/work train engine of some sort) came flying by southbound (coming out of the Providence yard presumably) by itself. Didn't catch a number, has always been fairly mysterious to me.

Also on 5:53, #650-664 was used on Amtrak's GP40s back in the early 1990s. When they returned to Helm Leasing in the late 1990s, Amtrak reused the same numbering on their HHP-8s until ACS-64s came in 2014, and they were retired.

Maybe because more HP is not needed, and a turbocharger is another part that can fail easily. In general more HP does not add more power in certain uses. It really depends on other factors aswell. But that is just what came up to my mind.

I say Amtrak should bring back the SDP40F’s, P30CH’s, and E60’s but better and more well maintained. Speaking of Canada, I have a cool Idea of a new Amtrak line called the Amtrak Canadian line and it will go up from Washington state through Canada and up to Juneau and Fairbanks Alaska,USA. If anyone wants to travel on the Amtrak Canadian and stop at one of the possible Canadian stations they will need not just a train ticket but a travel passport. If you are traveling on the Amtrak Canadian up from Washington to Alaska than al you need is a train ticket because of obvious reason’s. The land will still belong to Canada but the rails will be owned by Amtrak, US Canada and the Canadian railroad company’s. The paint color’s of the Amtrak Canadian line locomotive’s are as follows: Red,Amtrak blue, reddish orange like maple leaf 🍁 called Canadian orange, pine green or light brown and black. These are the colors for the Amtrak Canadian line from the most northern lines from Van Couver up through Canada and finally up to Alaska. Another Idea I have is a 7th phase of Amtrak paint and it is the blood nose front and a light blue middle and the end is silver (platinum mist) or white and in the light blue the pointless arrow is revived but new, Amtrak dark blue for railroad tracks and red for the arrow at the end and the ends are pointed and a black canter stripe through the blood nose and when it hits the light blue it sharpens to a point and ends so the color’s are Red, light blue, Amtrak deep blue, Silver(Platinum mist) or white, and black. Those are the ideas I have. If the President of Amtrak is reading these comments plz consider my ideas and finally the Amtrak Canadian line will be owned by The US and Canada so that no illegal immigrants move in to Canada or the US. If anyone was reading my comment, thanks.

The southeast Florida commuter railroad tri county rail tri rail for short started out using former GO equipment and had some M.K locomotive rebuilds when first being operated all tri rail rolling stock retained there GO color's and markings one of these types of GO locomotives was used for the tri rail startup.
