Via Rail 6304 was missing, which was painted in the "Black Window" scheme of the southern pacific, it made some excursions in Montana, then the locomotive was painted in the "Western Pacific California Zephyr" scheme, number 806-A that made an excursion called: Domes Over Donner in 2004 along with 2 Amtrak P42DC and an amtrak domer car (Ex Great northern domer coach) and several old cars used on the California Zephyr, this excursion was called: California Zephyr recreation, later returned to the southern pacific Black Window scheme , in 2005 the locomotive made a special tour together with: 2 Amtrak P42DC, Western Pacific GP20 2001, and McCloud River Railway 37, which went to McCloud River Railroad, then I'm stuck at CeeCo in Tacoma, Washington in 2007 for a while, then made a tour in montana along with the Amtrak Cascades F59PHI 466, and three private rail cars, later it was rented by Mid-American Rail, which was being used by the Washington and Idaho Railway, the Ex via rail 6304 was transporting cargo until mid-2019, the Washington and Idaho railway ceased operations due to the termination of the state lines contract, A new operator took over in August 2019 and is called Spokane, Spangle & Palouse Railway, later the locomotive went to the Alberta Railway Museum in Alberta, Canada. It has been rebuilt and restored to its original Canadian National paint scheme as CN 6304 which it still has today, well it is not working but is parked in one of the museum's courtyards, we don't know if it will work again but we know it is preserved and that it was one of the locomotives that marked the history of excursions and railways.

The 567Cs weren't replaced by 16-cylinder 645s in the FP9ARM. They were rebuilt with 645 components. The 50HP increase came from modifications to the engine's governor.

Engine 6307 and 6313 for a brief moment went to the Ohio Central Railroad in central Ohio after Jerry Jacobson sold the railroad I honestly don't know where those engines ended up. During Ohio Central ownership they were painted Pennsylvania Railroad Tuscan red with 5 stripes as a tribute to the former Pennsylvania Road line between Pittsburgh and st. Louis on which the OC owns between Denison via Coshocton to Columbus Ohio

CN 6520 / VIA 6306 has recently been restored to the 1960's orange and black CN noodle scheme and given her original CN 6520 number. She is preserved at the WCRA Museum in Squamish BC.

Not to mention a handful of the FP9s that ran on the Canada 150 Train this summer were ex VIA. (Some not even originally CP)

@VIARailFan6448 the old F units only received the VIA logo on the nose for about the first 3 years of VIA, then they were removed for reasons I forget but I think was covered in Chris Greenlaw's book same as to why 6307 and 6313 were adorned with VIA and Canada on their noses.

All the FP9s in the 6500-6542 were from CN. FP7s and FP9s acquired from CP Rail were eventually numbered from 6543 and up. CN units have true F9/FP9/E9 headlight housing, flush-fitted glass "window" with the black rubber seal, and have distinctive rain-strip over the nose door. All CP units, FP7s and FP9s in the 1400's numbers, are easy to spot: they all had F7 headlight housings, with the larger, rounded edge opening with the more recessed glass window without seal. When rebuilt into FP9Au and Arm, all selected ex-CN and ex-CP units were all renumbred in the 6300's, some with Dash-2 EMD electrical components. CN never rostered FP7s. The units you have in your video are F7Au's, made in 1972-73, and other throughout the 70's, from CN F7s and some F3s acquired from GTW. They were used for freight, but yes sometimes pulling CN, then VIA consists, especially in the Rockies. Unit 6300, formerly CN 6524, is the exception in term of headlight housing; the nose was rebuilt with the cab of a wrecked KCS F7 (maybe Wabash?) after the Hinton accident.

With regards to the "Ghost scheme" it was originally based off the LRC demonstrater unit. They didn't finalize the LRC paint until after the FP9 was done. No FPA's were painted in the Ghost scheme.

Just wanted to let you know. CN never owned any FP7's they only had F7's which were mostly used in frieght service. Some were used by Passenger trains with SGU's as they didn't have steam generators.

CN never had FP7s. "By the time CNR management was ready to order diesels for mainline passenger service, in late 1953, the FP7 had been replaced in GMD/EMD's catalogue by the FP9." - Ken Goslett & Kevin J. Holland

I remember growing up seeing the last gasps of the FP9's before they where totally replaced by the F40's and then the GE Genesis locomotives. While I got to see the FP9's in the late 90's, I never to to see the LRC trains :(

Just wanted to let you know that F stood for Frieght. The FP9r or u model was a rebuilt with Head end Power. The Ghost Scheme was supposed to be a LRC like paint scheme to match the LRC before they came with the different colours.

Dude. The 6300 series got 645 "packs" which is boring out the 567 engine block and changing the actual cylinders to 645 cylinder packs verse the 567 packs. CN did this to almost all of the rebuilds they completed.. including the sweeps (7100s. ) pretty ssure they also did the 7300s 1400 and 1600s. And i know for a fact. ALL gp9 rebuilds have 645 packs. All the 4000s. 4100. 7000. 7200. The reasons . Are for maint. Easier for parts inventory
