England edge out Scotland 1-0 at Wembley in May 1973 to win the Home International Championship. Two 1966 heroes link up for the only goal as Martin Peters heads in Alan Ball's free-kick, although it takes an excellent save by Peter Shilton to deny Kenny Dalglish a Scottish equaliser. It is England's second win against the Scots in 1973, having also beaten them in a friendly match at Hampden Park in February.
