Ray Clemence was a great keeper, that reflex save early in the game showed just what he could do week in week out. A lot of today's players and managers aren't really old enough to have witnessed what he did in the game back then, but let me tell you he was quick, a shot stopper and good off his line. This from a proud Evertonian, rest in Peace Ray.

Totally agree mate, I was gonna comment pretty much the same. I can't get my head around how a team these days can go from being on a dangerous attack to giving it back to their 'keeper in about three or four passes. Too much fancy coaching shit in today's game I think, and too much Foreign influence.

I was fortunate to see all these players when i was a kid in the 80's. I got to see John Wark as well when he was playing for Ipswich in 1997 (i'm a Birmingham Fan) and the guy was just pure quality and was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch and if my memory serves, was playing as a sweeper/centre half, just terrific.

I was one of a few English fans at this game as a 17 year old. Very scary experience. We moved at halftime after threats from Scottish fans. It was so packed our feet could barely touch the ground. This was the era when England struggled so much to qualify for the WC. IDT it was due to a lack of talent, just the style they played. Keegan was just about the best player we had then. I think he would still be a great player today.
