Sri Lanka played in the first World Cup in 1975 as an associate nation, before they had test match status. They lost all 3 matches, 2 of them by a lot. (Surprisingly they were quite competitive against Australia.) 20 years later, they won the tournament. It is absolutely worth having the associate nations play and experience playing against the best teams and players in the world.

That's because ICC used to financially support these nations so that they can get more ppl to spend more time on cricket and not just play it as a part time job. Now ICC is just corrupt.They are greedy and don't want to invest in anything Plus batting is a skill which doesn't come overnight. Most Associate nations are good at bowling but their lack in batting skills costs them like it did for Netherlands yesterday. For the same reason I think NY pitch was best suited for Associate nations as it covers up for the lack of batting skills of Associate nations

If you want real entertainment check out the lower levels of the associate members. Would love to see some sort of a plate competition between them. For instance Gibraltar, watching Pai bat is like watching the pros though once a few wickets go down you start really relating to it as it's club cricket level. Brilliant to watch. You know what to expect when Starc or Wood bowls, with the associates you really don't know what's going to happen. Lots of close games too.

For Super 8, all teams will be playing on alternate days based on the group they are in. Group 1 on 20, 22 and 24 while Group 2 on 19, 21 and 23. The Australia playing 3 in 4 days comment was probably due to some day games and some night games and time zone stuff for the commentor.
