We don’t have Turkish communities or African communities in England like he says. There is no segregation, everyone lives next door to each other. It is not divided by colour or culture, but by wealth. There are Indian restaurants everywhere in every area as there are Kebab shops (Turkish) African restaurants are rare, but there is a lot of Caribbean food. Mostly Jamaican. Lots of Chinese, Thai, Italian, French etc. It is a real melting pot!

The thing to remember about Britain is it is much farther north then most realise . Glasgow is on the same latitude as Moscow. Where we are situated five weather systems converge . So there is a constant battle which one will become dominant . The best time to come over here and hopefully have good weather is the end of August and the beginning of September . But we can get sunny weather anytime of the year . In the summer it can get up to 80 f on a good day . Do bring a light waterproof and comfortable walking shoes with you . We do tend to walk a lot more then people do in the US. Don't spend all your time in London . The rest of the country is very very different . Hire a car , but book before you come over . Most cars here are manual gear box not automatic . If you are not used to a manual box , you will need to ask ahead for one . Ask for a Satnav , or sometimes called a GPS . It will be a great help , finding your way . Buy a little booklet called , The Highway Code . It's only a few bucks . Printed by the government and full of good advice about driving over here .

Good Video, thanks. Remembrance day is officially 11th November, which is St. Martin's day or 'Martinmas' if you go back into Medieval English History. It is NOT a holiday. It Commemorates (does not celebrate) all those who sacrificed their lives in war, either side of a conflict. The Tomb of the unknown warrior is buried alongside the Kings and Queens of England, representing that they may have no name, but they are no less noble. Arlington Cemetery has a tomb of the Unknown Warrior, for all US Combatants in all conflicts. Arc de Triomphe in Paris houses the French equivalent. The poppy was chosen as a symbol from World War 1, because they tended to grow soonest after the bombs had stopped devouring a countryside? They are sold to raise money for veterans in all conflicts, irrespective of nationality, although obviously British Veterans have first dibs. If you want to learn more search 'David Railton' Army Chaplain, Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. Nearly off topic, you lived in Ashford, I got drunk in Ashford, one night back in early 1980s Tee hee hee.

@junctionfilms63483 жыл бұрын
@@JakeGutteridge Why ? It is just a fact and it always has been. Perhaps some context helps: What is called 'The Queens English' is merely Oxford English officially, created by Oxford Academics around 100 years ago, to standardise English in the revolution in education then, in a drive to eradicate illiteracy. The Oxford English pronunciations are often used in teaching people learning English. Oxford English used the general 'upper class' stylistically of speaking. This is also called Received Proncouacntion or R.P. Only about 2% of people speak like this. Around 20% or a quarter, with similar close characteristics, mostly in the south / south east of England. The upper class dialect, is just an accent and dialect that evolved over time - it is just one. English is interesting due to its diversity, 60 accents and dialects in Britain at least, they say. This is the real English and how English evolved as a language is in all of those and is also the real English, all combined, not one tiny 2%. People confused being 'educated' with having R.P. which is a prejudice that surely has all but gone these days ?
