Bell is a beast especially around the field, as are the wallabies loosies. Be interesting to see how Suaalii goes - I don’t watch league much so don’t know if he is as good as SBW or Folau were. Even though I’m an AB’s fan I still hope the Ozzie’s do well.

McCaw played for NZ before playing in super rugby, but he'd played npc that season, and npc was an excellent standard of rugby at the time. He was minimum semi-pro at npc level

Israel Folau debuted in a Lions test after ~6 games of union ever, for the tahs in SR that season. AFAIK he didn't play schoolboys or any other union before that.

Roosters fan here. Watched him debut as like a 19 year old. The lad has some serious talent. Great under the high ball, superb footwork and good all round back. I expect he will take some time to find his feet at this level in Union. But give him time 👊

I feel that comparison is a little unfair on LCD. It's mostly injury that has curtailed Luke's international career. He played 3 tests for the Lions in 2021 !!

Mind boggling that suaalii is starting at 13. I watch a fair amount of nrl and wouldn't consider him ready to play at centre in int'l union. England might need to do more with possession and territory than last week

@@Dummypass yup, can't argue with Joe Schmidt. He's forgotten more about rugby than I'll ever know. If Suaalii works out this weekend, it's a win win, but it's a notoriously challenging position to defend in. I'll definitely be watching the centres matchup for the game

@@tobyslater2011 SBW played union in France for 2 seasons then to NZ npc for a season before getting in the ABs. Can't recall what Burgess did between league (which he is a legend in) and playing for England, but he's probably more of a cautionary tale of rushing someone in too fast. I don't mean to attack the guy but I don't think he was ready and it showed

Good forward pack except for onething would have like to seen Liam Wright back in the side which would have run on with 3 good jumpers in that side. Problem is Skelton Valentini and Wilson dont' jump, Valentini is the only Part time jumper out of the three. Would of rather have seen suaalii come from the bench and earnt his spot although him and Kerevi brings back some size in that backline as long as Kerevi gets back to his best as he was not during the world cup. Ikitau is not a 12 he has no idea what he is doing as a 12. Great 13 though. Leaving out Hamish Stewart bad mistake.

Noah, with 25 caps, still hasn’t shown the performance needed at the international level. His tendency to simply pass the ball along could lead to issues. Suaalii, coming from the NRL where set plays are rare, is likely to be targeted off set pieces, pressured into committing to the wrong player, and leaving a gap for the opposition. Our front-row replacements also look vulnerable; Slipper has been conceding penalties excessively. I’m honestly hoping I’m wrong about all of this, and we somehow pull off a win. Hard to believe Samu and Big Willy aren’t in the starting lineup.

As you say, considering the money he's on and the fact the Lions are 4 matches away, we need to figure out if he can cut it ASAP. Sticking him at a pivotal defensive position like 13 is concerning. Even if they're going to be flexible that seems to be risky as well for defensive positioning. People who watch both codes reckon he's an Israel Folau level player who made his debut in a Lions test after a handful of rugby games in his life starting that season. Fingers crossed he's worth the money.

@@TwoCentsRugby Which is a worry, those sorts of systems have been tried before and it seems pretty easy to catch a player out of position due to a mix up, slow transition, unfamiliarity etc. Hoping Schmidt (and the players) know what they're doing.

Considering how many league converts have flopped in union, it is a real gamble for the Aussies to take by playing Suaalii. I think England will get the job done, just hoping its competitive.

Aussie here- Wallabies have less than 5% chance of winning this test. If their chances were already slim, RA then starts this tour late - players will still be jetlagged plus English players are in season and they just had a serious test against NZ ... Plus we have the highly predictable fact that they're handing a test debut to a highly overrated and overpaid upstart (with a shrewd manager) who hasn't played rugby since high school! Insanity. How would young players like Flook feel? The best Au can realistically hope for is to beat Wales and Scotland on this tour.

I can't see anything but a 20+ point England win. Australia are weak and will roll over. The Welsh regions are doing better and the national team will reflect those improvements. The Wallabies won't beat us either. Personally I think England might lose their temper and really hurt the men in yellow on the score board. It could get ugly. .

He’s going to compete against guys, who have trained union since childhood, and are the top dogs at their position. It’s even worse than the LRZ scenario, and even worse than the Sam Burgess scenario, as he got to play half a season of rugby union for Bath before he was thrown to the lions at the 2015 RWC. And we all know how that worked.
