I don't know if Vanessa mentioned it, but I LOVE the subjunctive expressions in English. Because of my native language is Spanish, and we use that mood a lot of times. The classic "If I were ....." is famous in this context. And it might be really tricky for both native and non-native English speaker, but I think the subjunctive is subtle and beautiful. A poetry.

When I started this membership, my English was so bad, I couldn’t speak and I was stuck. I tried to open my mouth and speak but I couldn’t because I was shy and nervous….
