Mr. Adam can we call a multi-episodic movie called The Game of Thrones as a word - serial. I came across 2 words which seem to me the same, such words as: serial and the series. Could you please explain this word (serial) related to film?

Back in 2012 when I just started emerging myself into English environment and struggled with speaking and understanding my English teacher in extra classes which cost dramatically expensive.
