I'd love to ask something: Can I use the second part first, and the first part after the second on different sentences in which I'll use unless or as long as. For example: You won't be able to talk or understand English, as long as you don't learn it / unless you learn it.

Thank you Adam. I have one question. Can we use "unless" in II and III conditionals? For example: We might not have any delays unless he screwed up with his job. Or: We would not encountered any problems unless he had screwed up. Is it correct?

Thank you dear teacher , i always use (IF not) in speaking ,,i was confused when my teacher talked about unless..❤
@papplemanger211 жыл бұрын
"at least" is very different. It is a consequence. if you say "at least ..." then it means that the smallest amount of the consequence is what you describe. for example, if the smallest consequence of quitting smoking is feeling better then you can say "If you quit smoking, at least you will feel better." meaning that they will feel better, but also there will be more benefits. Also you can use it to say "That will cost at least $5". That means that it might cost more, but should not cost less.
@ArtemAB5 жыл бұрын
Great explanation, but "unless" can be used not only with the future tense.

"whether" is a flexible condition. for example: "Whether you quit smoking or not is your choice." the "whether" gives the choice. Most often, we will use the "or not" with the word "whether", so we use a positive verb and a negative verb. "I do not know whether or not i will quit smoking." Which means that they do not know if they will quit or will not quit. Also, "I do not know whether i should quit smoking or not." The "or not" can go after the verb or after the word "whether" in all cases.
