Mr. P./Marc will focus on the -ing & -ed clauses in this lesson. Clauses are parts of a sentence, and they have a verb and a noun. They can also be dependent or independent. These forms have distinct uses. He will give you some easy examples using both types of clauses.
The lesson is intended for students of the English language who have acquired an intermediate level or above.
Mr. P. is a Canadian English Teacher/Coach from Toronto, Canada, who has been teaching English since 1997. He is a certified English teacher specializing in EFL, ESL, TOESL, TOEFL, #IELTS, KET, PET, CAE, FCE, and CPE. He taught English to adults in Rome for 20 years and became an Honorary Fellow at UNITELMA Sapienza University in Rome in 2015.

Hello, thank you for the video. Having said that, I have a question about this sentence: "Having said that he left the room" I think there must be a comma after the word "that", but I'm not sure..... Or does the comma after the phrase "having said that" depend on the English accent Anyway, apart from that issue thanks for the video

Thanks for your help. Your videos have helped me a lot. Please I need help to understand a bit better participles. For example, 1.- Having cleaned my car, I went to the party. 2.- Having the car clean, I can go to the party. The first one, is a perfect participle and the second one is not, right? Their meaning is totally different, right? Here's another question, 1.- Being patient, she got to the place. 2.- Her being patient helped her got the place. I think that the first one is an active participle, and the second one does not. Is it right? I would like to know how to use "our, their, your, my" + ING Thanks for your help.
@Englishing
@Englishing 3 жыл бұрын
-ing are always present participles. Your examples are a little confusing. Ex. My writing in Italian is pretty good. (that's is one example of how you can use present participles with possessive adjectives)

Thank you very much for helping me with the participles. I'm so sorry maybe my examples are not clear. Perfect participle Having cleaned my car, I went to the party. (Meaning: After having cleaned my car myself, I went to the party) No participle Having the car clean, I can go to the party. (Meaning: My car is clean so I can go to the party) Active participle Being patient, she got to the place. (Meaning: Because I was patient I could get to the place. No participle Her being patient helped her got the place. Please, are my sentences right? Thanks
