Typical RU conscript moment, really. It's an old page out of a really old book with a red star on it. Russia was well known in the past for using prison conscripts. The US and from what I understand most current NATO members have not conscripted inmates since the end of WW2, but the practice is alive and well in Russia on a non-official basis through the mercenary legions.

This isn’t a counter offensive tho. A counter offensive is done after an enemy offensive to counter them, hence the name, but the Russians didn’t launch any offensive and instead where digging defenses. Hence this is an offensive, not a counter offensive.

The 59 year old fellow is a stark reminder that many of these soldiers are there for ideological reasons. They are there because they are trying to make a better life for themselves or for loved ones. This isn't like trying to make a better life in other countries. There is true desperation, and a severe lack of choice there. I think (aside from guns, duh), that the Ukrainians greatest weapon is going to be giving the Russian soldiers compassion and perspective. When the Russians get back home, it will be hard to stop the word from getting around on who the aggresssor and bad guy is.

No one has to speculate or create conspiracy theories to explain Russia's motivations, it's all out there, but the level of disinformation in the West is unbelievable. Russia's unanswered concerns became motivations (for what was to be a quick intervention), but they are still ignored and substituted by the demonization of Russia's leaders. It's either militant stupidity or deliberate disinformation efforts to prevent the possibility of peace. The same thing that led to this outcome in the first place. I bet that you would just love to get a tail-wagging US puppet on the Kremlin, giving US companies full access to Russia's resources.

This fact is clearly evident in the choice of obscene language they use and at the same time is carefully hidden by subtitles from western audience. It makes the title of the video somewhat misleading and it is exactly what my first post was about.
