Another point of difference is cruise control being an option for the RS but not so for the R.

Excellent vlog, & loving the banter. Plus, the comparison format is always very edifying in demonstrating the old adage: you can't judge a bike by its numbers... bloody lovely bikes, in this instance, too! Keep up the great work. 👍

I owned a 2019 R and last year traded it for a 2023 RS. It's a far superior bike imo. It looks stunning in Cosmic Yellow (apparently by far the most common choice). The RS is so planted it really is a point and go beast. A downside is that it can make you believe that you're a far better rider than you actually are!

As someone who owns the RS, it is easily worth the money. From the upgraded suspension and increased horsepower. There's so many little features that you get with the RS model. Either way, if you get a Triple you will be happy with it. Also for anyone that does get the Racefit exhaust. It comes with a cat. You don't need to tune it. This bike doesn't need to have any more power. It has plenty.

For the many big changes from the R to the RS for sure its worth it. Fof the R I'd still want the bellypan, Bar end mirrors at a minimum and with those the difference in cost is minimal IMO. I'd argue the old R is the choice over the old RS but this current model the RS wins. Not to mention it has optional cruse control which is a game changer on a bike like this.
@BIGGUY083
@BIGGUY083 2 ай бұрын
that's exactly why i've gone with the rs, wanted the belly pan, seat cowl and bar end mirrors + needed adjustable levers for both brake and clutch (r only have brake) and at the time the r came only in white and grey, already had a white street S befors so wanted a slpash of color and the cosmic yellow is so georgous. + as you said the optional cruise control
@Klooney9mm
@Klooney9mm 2 ай бұрын
@@BIGGUY083 What's funny though is I specifically want the White myself, but would refuse to settle for the R and don't want a colour model but until they make a monotone model I won't jump at it. I'm an owner of a 2020 S (without the decals) and as bad as it might seen. I'd be tempted to swap the plastic panels from my 2020 to the current and buy a replacement Tank from the R to put it on instead. Then the 2020 S can become whatever colour the panels get switched from.

Hmmm. The barend mirrors are crap when filtering, makes the bike that much wider. Plus, the suspension on the rs is so firm, on British roads you feel all the bumps, the r smooths them out. So, it’s the R for me

As always as funny as you like. Riddled with innuendos… great work guys… However, the TFT on the “R”might be the same as the Tiger 660, but not the same as the Trident… unless they have changed the Trident’s dash for 2024. My 2023 Trident didn’t have the bobbles on each side. Sorry, don’t mean to be pedantic.. 😊😊 The RS is truly stunning. Worth the price tag all day long… it has to be in red too😊😊

Good comparison and clearly no bad bikes here. I am still thinking R. Where I live the RS is getting expensive and there are way more powerful bikes available. The RS tacho is unreadable as is other information apart from speed. I need to trail brake through corners on my favourite roads and am not sure I want the instant hit of the Stylemas. The RS would be good on the track but I would prefer a softer set up for every day. Also the R is aggressive enough for daily riding. And triumph has specialed the Rs too! Still waiting for weather and work to align so I can ride one.

Great video. Love the street triple. The problem here in Sweden is not the price (not cheap) its the insane insurance cost. The insurance companies see this bike as an hooligan bike and then it doesnt matter even if you are 56 years old. Nowadays they dont get a shit how old you are. There is also a lack of concurance between the insurance companies and they are so few that really wants to sell mc insurances and they follow each others in pricing and the rest who dont want to insure mc raiders they just price you out because they are not interested to have you as a customer in this bike segment. I think in the UK its more campanies to compeat with each other and the mc market is bigger in general. Lucky you.

point to be noted is that in the long run the stylema brake pads costs more and melts quicker , the r is a slight bit less fuel hungry when on highway speeds cause the rs is tuned to rocket up from 8000 rpm where as the r becomes a linear flat curve , accident prone bar ends that costs a bomb .... and i am making a hybrid myself the orange st3 r with rs master cylinder and levers and the 10mm spacer to jack up the rear end lets see how the result goes and the tyres too not just initial price the tyres will quickly run out on the rs so consider that an initial investment too and it is a no brainer if cruise is as an option and u dont get it so considering all these factors ive decided that i must go with the r cause instead of settling for a z900 or a trident i can get a bike that does what it meant to do if you want a street triple get the rs but if you want a silky smooth bike that is the most forgiving in the segment get the r cause lets be honest the 990 and mt09 are on steroids right now

I'll stick with the new MT09. They are fast no doubt but like you said, got keep them on the boil! And maybe you don't want to go that fast to get to their powerband? Interesting, Triumph in the US offers the "Street Triple" $10,945USD (RS Model)then the Steet Triple 765 @ $10,595USD (R model?) They only list hp rating for the Street Triple 756 at 120hp. for the "Street Triple" they only list torque at 58 ft lbs, no hp listing. These appear to be 2024 models too. No other charges are listed.
@ApexRadius
@ApexRadius 2 ай бұрын
"Have to keep them on the boil" is a bit misleading. They're not 2-strokes or 1-4 600s. But they certainly need more revs than an MT-09. The Striples are tuned quite differently than an MT-09, which also has 135 cc more displacement; it really depends on what you prefer. On the Triumph USA website, it's a little confusing that they list the only the R specs up front. To get to the RS and Moto2 specs, click the "View Details" button. Then hit "Models" in the sub-menu. Then you can choose between the R, RS, and Moto2. BTW, the previous generation Street Triple is also listed in the Model line-up, which can be a little confusing, too. The current RS makes 130 PS/128 HP at 12, 000 RPM. Peak torque is 59 ft. lbs.at 9500. The US spec R is listed at 120 HP. But both bikes have pretty much exactly the same performance until the upper reaches of the rev range.

Dan, I can't help feeling that bike manufacturers take us bikers for a mug. They know very well that the RS has the better components and the best overall performance, feeling etc and make the R so close in price they know you're going to buy the RS and cough up the extra money. Same thing goes for the SP editions of Yamaha. I wish they'd just make the one version.

I did a test ride on the RS and those brakes are the best brakes of any bike I have ever ridden. and I have ridden many bikes and I own a Ducati 939 Supersport with Brembo brakes. I really love every thing about the Street Triple except for the lack of wind protection. I wish they would make the same bike with a fairing. without changing the ergonomics. similar the the 660 Daytona. which I also really like except for the fake plastic frame. I never tried the R version of the 765. I'm getting old and I'm sure I would like the more upright ergonomics. but I just don't like the white or silver. the red and yellow RS are such nicer colors. and to me the belly pan covers some ugly pipes and makes a nice difference. and with the better breaks and suspension I would have to buy the RS. even though the R might be easier on my back and wrists.

Very good review of both of the triumph bikes but a question for you is there any difference between the petrol tanks it’s something that wasn’t mentioned in the video regarding either bike. But having checked the 765R has a 15L petrol tank which I think it should be a bit bigger considering how good the bike is it should have a bigger tank but I can’t decide which of the two bikes I would consider reason being is that they are very similar apart from the tyres and the brakes and considering the triumph 765R is not very long bike I am sure it’s putting the passenger seat on the bike simply because there’s not much space for a person on the bike and the 765RS doesn’t have the option of the passenger seat which is good thing because it could only be used for a short distance with the 765R but I think both bikes are very good and very good video

@ApexRadius
@ApexRadius 2 ай бұрын
Well, I can't disagree entirely. But, believe it or not, I think I might prefer the dash on the R for fundamental use. Every tachometer design, as widely reported, on my RS is basically useless. And some of the other information is difficult to read. It's the only part of the bike I don't like. They had the design and layout right on the first generation ST765 and I can't fathom why they thought this design was better. I have heard rumors that they're finally changing it but we'll see. But most people will forget about the dash once they ride the bike.
@arsssis
@arsssis 2 ай бұрын
1000 miles in and you dont even notice the deficiencies with the dash on the RS. Would definitely recommend “forcing” dark mode (think it’s called low contrast) so its light text on dark background. Makes it 100% better.
@ApexRadius
@ApexRadius 2 ай бұрын
@@arsssis I use the dark mode most of the time but it doesn't really help the tach much. It's just an overwrought, overthought design. Looks cool, like the whole dash, but unreadable at a glance. Fortunately, and especially on the street, once you do a bit of mileage on the bike, you don't really need to refer to it much. I've even been using the numerical tach option and it's not terrible.
