Hi Jennifer, your passion for teaching us is immeasurable. If only there were more teachers like you among relentless students, learning English wouldn't be as difficult as it is at advanced levels. Sometimes it's rather disappointing and ends up being a waste of time. Fortunately, you're there, just one in a million!

I would very much like the way Jennifer teaches us all about English. I wanna thank her for this. And yes, Aliens need to be understood and researched from a perspective that is more human and compassionate. I mean can't we imagine the benefits humans could reap once we decide to be their friends and not adversaries . Let's all plege to work for a planet that's all- inclusive and all- accommodating.

Super! I'm very happy you tried the final task! It's a challenging one. :) Here are my suggestions: MORE FORMAL: I very much like the way Jennifer teaches us all about English. I would like to thank her for this. Yes, aliens need to be understood and researched from a perspective that is more humane and compassionate. Imagine the benefits humans could reap once we decide to be their friends and not their adversaries . Let's pledge to work for a planet that's all-inclusive and all-accommodating. LESS FORMAL: I really like the way Jennifer teaches us all about English. I wanna say thanks for that. And yes, aliens need to be understood and researched in a way that's more humane and compassionate. I mean, can't you imagine the benefits if we decide to be their friends and not their enemies? We need to work together to make this a planet that's all-inclusive and all-accommodating.

Hi Jennifer. Thanks again for your remarkable lesson.Regarding the task, this is my opinion: If alien technology allowed us the use of free energy, the governments would have to work together in order to balance the economic implications in the different countries around the planet. Obviously, the oil-producing countries would be affected by this knowledge. On the other hand, this new resource would permit the possibility of helping many people in remote areas.
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely stunning job, Susana. I had people like you in mind when I designed this lesson. You're definitely up for the challenge. :) I appreciate your consistency in tone. You use standard grammar and spelling along with higher level vocabulary. You make logical choices when it comes to sentence adverbs and linking adverbs. Great work! Small corrections: 1. Place a comma after your first IF-clause (...of free energy, the governments...) 2. Place a comma after "On the other hand," I agree that cooperation would be key. Implementing the use of free energy would require discussion, collaboration, and sensitivity to the different economies. People in remote regions would greatly benefit from this technology.

The word 'so' is a common discourse marker, as is 'now,' 'okay' and 'right.' Used in speech and not in formal written communication. So, let's watch this excellent lesson, folks. Now, we need to listen closely, everyone. Okay, let's get to work, Right, if you would like to get your English books out. I put a comma after the discourse marker as it is not essential to the sentence, and a slight pause always follows it. Would you concur, Jennifer?
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, commas are sometimes used that way. I suppose we don't have hard and fast rules because using "So" this way is mostly spoken, not written. But it makes sense to use a comma if there's a pause after it. (PS - Good contrast here. Your last two lines are more formal. My response is more informal and conversational.)

Hi Jennifer. This is quite a challenging topic. Here's my answer to the task: • Indeed, we should make use of it. Especially if they were unlimited, pollution-free and no-cost energy sources. However, it is thought that some governments and other interst groups like fuel companies will try to suppress and dominate those energy sources in order to keep their businesses flourishing.
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 6 жыл бұрын
I'm delighted I could challenge you, Ra'ed. You're ready to perform at this level. :) Your statement is consistent in tone. Your vocabulary shows variety and appropriacy. Lovely uses of compound adjectives and academic verbs! Suggestions: 1. I would continue the first sentence and not make that IF-clause stand alone: Indeed, we should make use of it, especially if they were unlimited, pollution-free and no-cost energy sources. 2. "It is thought that" suggests that there's already open discussion about this topic, but I don't believe that there's open admission that such technology exists and is readily available. Maybe this would be more accurate: However, it is likely that some governments...would try to... However, it is probable that some governments...would try to... 3. "Like" is correctly used, but "such as" would sound more formal: ...other interest groups such as fuel companies I agree. The technology would benefit our planet in the end, but present businesses would be negatively affected. I've thought about other implications. For example, car manufacturing would have to change. That in turn may affect the need for mechanics. Gas stations would close, and truck drivers would have less to transport. And so on and so on.
@raed2178
@raed2178 6 жыл бұрын
JenniferESL Thank you, Jennifer for your detailed feedback. I really appreciate it. I myself like what you did with the first sentence. As for the second sentence, I imagined, as a hypothetical matter, what will happen if this kind of technology already exists. Simply put, I had to use this expression "It is thought that" although there isn't any admission about the existence of such technology. However, I like the suggestions you made about using "likely" or "probable" in that sentence. Other than that, I like the suggestions you made. They are much more formal and proper. 👍

Dear Teacher JenniferESL, This is quite a challenging topic. I can`t thank you enough for such a video lesson. It is educational and instructional. I really appreciate it. I hope you don`t mind my asking, but would it be at all possible for you to make a video lesson about the usage and meaning of the word " as ". It may introduce adverbial clauses of manner, of degree, of comparison, of reason, of time, and adjectival clauses. in some cases, it operates alone as a conjunction.. I would be so much grateful. I have faith in you. As always, thank you for all your help in providing us with good video lesson. Have a lovely weekend ! Regards, Fazil

I thank you a lot. That was what I was looking for , and found it. When it comes the free energy through aliens, it is really interesting issue that I havent heard so far. Apart from aliens , free energy by its nature is so significant topic which will probably change all appearance of the world. We certainly should make use of it, instead of polluting energy such as coal, oil as a whole, all kind of fossil energy resources. When it is put into life , the first impact might be seen on countries producing oil or generally speaking, Opec countries are probably going to be in for the economic shock or trouble. And the war for energy is likely to turn out or end up with the clean air and the peace all over the world.

@@Englishwithjennifer When whoever brings us a clean and free energy, I am going to say to them welcome. Everyhing is possible , everything which is supposed or seen sets off a new hypothesis, postulate, then it is developing and turns into a fact where we are living. When I was in prep school, I used to think of a car flying in the sky as we need and then again we would be able to drive it. A car with two functions!? That was my dream. Now, this is about to come true. To me, Hope and dreams are like motor or an engine that gives us an opportunity to move forward and put them into effect. On top of that, hope gives us the strenght and determination in order to look forward to realizing our dreams. Why not UFO's and aliens? And free energy? Who knows what is what? If there is hope, there is life where we have and have been living on earth. Thanks for your response.

Interesting thoughts! I agree that there must be intelligent life out there. The universe is a big place! Comment: "surpass" is a high level word. To keep a more conversational tone, you can use "go faster than." Suggestions: I've never seen a UFO or an alien, but I think that in there must be a lot of life in the universe, even intelligent life. They probably have very advanced technology and wisdom to break the light speed (OR go faster than light speed). I also believe that the governments hide the truth to avoid the consequences.
