Hello Liz i have learnt a lot from your useful videos . may i pronounce R sound at end of pure,cure , tour teacher etc etc will it also be natural ? I heard some British people also pronounce the R . Please answer it thanks
@EnglishwithLiz3 жыл бұрын
Hi Please see my reply to you, I posted on the 'How to Pronounce Diphthongs' video as the Linking R rules apply. I suspect that when you hear people using /r/ at the end of these words, which are not linked to a following vowel, they have picked up the American pronunciation. I cover this subject in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3TUqaykocdgmc0 . Have a look and you will see the difference. Don't forget to share my channel with your friends 😀😀😀

Thanks for everything.But Oxford dictionary transcription for "feel" is different from what you said .It says /fi:l/
@EnglishwithLiz2 жыл бұрын
Hi Walid, yes you are correct, the dictionaries do show 'feel' as /fiːl/ and maybe I should have mentioned this. However, as I am sure you know language/accents are constantly evolving and I am finding that in conversation, that the majority of people in SE England, including myself, are now saying /fɪəl/ and not using the long /iː/ sound. Listen carefully to the video again and you will notice that it is not quite a long sound, but well done for spotting it. ❤️ Love & 🕊Peace. Liz

@EnglishwithLiz2 жыл бұрын
Some English learners say real with a long 'I' sound because it's easier for them, but it's not strictly correct. However, as long as the word can still be understood, it's not a problem.😊

I think you may be getting confused. Let me try and explain. The English alphabet is made up of 26 letters and these letters are used to spell English words. These letters do not represent the sounds of English, although some can. Yes, I know it's confusing 😕. To properly understand the sounds of English, you need to learn the Phonemic Chart. See this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5Kllqapat6aj9GVnd it should help you. Let me know how you get on.
