Oh wow, I've got a new experience in pronouncing word correctly by knowing how to place the tongue properly to produce the words. It is easier for me to understand your guidance by looking at your mouth position and tongue teacher Liz. You are amazing teacher for me, cause in short time I could correct my wrong pronunciations that I have applied for quite long time. I'm satisfied and have subscribed on your channel. Thank you very much for your lesson and video. I can't wait to watch more...!

Hi Liz, thanks for summarizing all the rules for pronouncing the letter D. Your attentive followers should know most of them from your previous sessions but this overview is great. One question though: in the example "Diana decided to add a red gate..." you pronounced "to add" like t'ad. This is certainly correct and sounds quite familiar but on the other hand, it seems to be against the rule of linking two vowels, i.e. one should rather expect "to(w)ad" Another example I heard recently is "access t'individuals" This does not follow the linking rule neither. Would you mind dropping us a hint, when the use of shwa prevails over the general vowel linking rule? Thank you! Love & peace. Kamil

I find the D sound tricky ! "She walked and talked with her friend last night. They laughed when she said she'd wished she'd kissed him." So the real API is not "ʃi wɔːkt ən tɔːkt wɪð hə frɛnd lɑːst naɪt ðeɪ lɑːft wɛn ʃi sɛd ʃiːd wɪʃt ʃiːd kɪst hɪm" since five "t" and "d" are dropped. You only kept the t in "talked" ! In the end, it's more something like that : "ʃi wɔːkt ən tɔːkt wɪð hə frɛn lɑːs naɪt ðeɪ lɑːf wɛn ʃi sɛ ʃiːd wɪʃ ʃiːd kɪstɪm". Is it correct ?
@EnglishwithLiz Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct. For those sounds when the d is pronounced like a t, very often, the tongue moves to the alveolar ridge to pronounce the sound, but doesn't. Instead, it moves to prepare for the next sound. It's up to the speaker.😊 Love❤️&🕊️ peace

English is funny because some word like "worked", the end is pronounced t. On the other hand, word like "spit it", t is pronounced d. Oh, I' ve gotta go. godda-go
