Forget to mention: the maximum rider weight is 150kg.

I have this bike, it is amazing, I am 68 and take long rides in the countryside with little effort covering many miles. The bike is sturdy and solid, fantastic fat tyres that are great for country lanes and off road tracks. I have the official rack bag, can carry a spare battery if needed. I store the bike in my apartment, batteries kept in the garage, takes up very little space and can fold it up if I wish. The best bike I have ever had.

I agree with you. I'm going to buy the bike rack bag, but it was out of stock.

I have the Engine X I live in the country so no traffic around..These bikes come with a 250W motor but it peaks at 500W the 48 volt battery makes the bike go like a moped. If you de-ristrict it and turn on the use of the handlebar throttle.. then it will on the flat achieve 23 mph...without pedaling. The throttle doubles up as s cruise control if you engage it for 8 seconds or more. The bike rides much better on roads if you lock out yhe front suspension . Having said all of this I ride pretty much to uk speed limits, the throttle is lovely for setting off up hill than having to use the pedals to get going, particularly pulling out st crossroads... If purchased in red its a real head turner... I absolutely Love It, I think Bob likes it too...enjoy it bob ..dont tell anyone you de restricted it I don't but I could see you enabled the throttle and could adjust the max speed ..mums the word
@BobEarnshawMoHo6 ай бұрын
I didn't unlock it on the video, I just showed how you can increase the speed. As you know, shipped it conforms to UK law - the throttle only takes you up to 5kph unassisted, speed is limited to 25Kph and motor is restricted to 250w. It can be unlocked through as can all of these ebikes.

Well done Bob on a great review as ever looks a good bike for the money nice and sturdy for off road and good around town but as portability is key with motorhomes would it be a good solution?
@BobEarnshawMoHo6 ай бұрын
It is a bit too big for bike racks, but will fit in larger motorhome garages.

I've had my engine x in white since October last year. Overall it's a good bike, quite robust but not without its flaws the biggest for me has been the rear axle bolts for the rear suspension. I found the ones on mine were too short which meant once the bolts were tightened up it didn't allow the suspension to move up and down. I replaced these with two 86mm ones which solved the problem. The gears are too short, at max assist at 15.5mph your legs are going pretty fast so I changed the crankset for one that has 56 teeth. Changed the front brake disc for a 203mm one with the shimano adapter for better braking. Another thing is to charge the bike with the battery in the bike where possible as opening and closing the bike can wear out the contacts on the battery faceplate, these have been known to short out and melt. The headset bearings sometimes need adjustment but generally they're ok. I've done quite a few mods to mine including a 2 battery setup giving me a total of 23ah of capacity. Realistically the range of the 13ah is about 25 to 40 miles. I'm a heavy guy so decided a bit of extra capacity was needed to haul this lump along. 😂

Thanks for the feedback on the bike. I did 20 miles on Sunday on it, after I made the video, and was quite surprised that the battery indicated was done to three bars, so like I said someone my size will probably get around 40 miles at the most.

I believe there is actually a 750w motor as if I remove the speed limit I can go up to 52km/h I'm 83kg heavy and my backpack some 5kg.. enough to go to work and back 2 times. It's about 12 km 1 way.. goes uphill up to 43km fast..

Oh my goodness! I've watched you folding this bike up about 80 times. I have just bought an ENGWE Engine Pro 2. Get it to take with us to caravan sites to ride, I said, like Bob does ! I didn't realise I'd need to eat spinach for the next ten years to even lift it!! We have eventually managed to fold it, but I feel light headed and quite sick now!!! Other than that, great vlog! 👍
@BobEarnshawMoHo3 ай бұрын
Yes, I definitely need my spinach to lift the Engine X into my motorhome garage.

Nice bike Bob and a great price. But at 38kg's and with FAT tyres would these fit onto a rear motorhome bike rack.? Pretty sure FAT tyres will not fit onto a standard rear bike rack, but I may be wrong.
@BobEarnshawMoHo6 ай бұрын
It certainly won't fit on my Thule tow bar rack, that only takes 25kg per bike. I wouldn't want to put it on a wall mounted one either! Garage would be best.

Bit confused Bob ..... you state at just over 13 mins that the battery is not removable yet at just over 3 mins you remove the battery to charge it ..... what am I mussing ??. Otherwise another great vid as per usual

the throttle does not work unless you ouver ride it or am I wrong. Can the throttle be set to work in peddle mode if so how. got the bike today and love it
@BobEarnshawMoHo5 ай бұрын
You can change it in settings, but it will propel the bike up to around 4 mph before you need to pedal.

The Chinese are certainly pumping these out at a rate of knots. The prices are increible compared to the European brands, just wonder about the quality. Will they last as well ?
@BobEarnshawMoHo6 ай бұрын
Only time will tell seems pretty solid!
@Peakwanderer6 ай бұрын
They fall a long way short of European bikes in loads of aspects, having had a couple and serviced other people's cheaper bikes I'd never have one, having said that they may suit less discerning riders in flatter terrain.

@@BobEarnshawMoHo 😊 Yes I would say so. My friend (aged 76) who had a similar bike with cable brakes was round almost daily wanting the brakes adjusted, in fairness it is very hilly around Chapel where we live. He went on to buy a Trek with hydraulic brakes and they've been considerably better with just a pad change in a year of ownership, he is quite heavy too. I was surprised at how discerning he was given he wasn't really a cyclist, he says the Trek is a considerably better bike, but then it was almost 3 times the cost of the Engwe.
@BobEarnshawMoHo6 ай бұрын
Yes, I do prefer hydraulic brakes, but it all adds to the cost.
