Hi, according to SPEAR needle video, catheter should be inserted equal to or less than 3cm. However, in this video, enhanced needle was inserted equal to or less than 2cm. Does this video is wrong? Or each products is different??

Thanks for asking! If you'll look closely at the 1:29 time, you'll see that the 3cm mark is where the tip of the finger is placed prior to insertion for a controlled insertion to the depth of 3cm. Thank you again for your question and for taking the time to view our instructional video!

@@Narescue01 Then, Enhanced ARS should be inserted less than or equal to 3cm like SPEAR needle?? 1:32

@@김구글-x5s The illustration at 1:32 is showing that less than or equal to 2cm has been inserted into the pleural space. This is beyond the tissue and is estimated based on muscle and fat tissue thickness. Starting with the 3cm mark during insertion will maintain control and in some patients would be sufficient to reach the pleural space. Other patients will have greater muscle and fat tissue that should be considered. The important thing is to control the insertion and avoid an explosive entry, which is a recommended change in insertion technique. Thank you again for asking and clarifying!

@North American Rescue - Official Channel Thank you for kind answers!! Lastly, I think the SPEAR instructions video should be corrected since the video said SPEAR can be inserted less than or equal to 3cm into the pleural cavity. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ63XqmBmsR4apI

Yes. TC3 says 14ga or 10ga 3.25" NCD either MCL or AAL. This Enhanced ARS is still a 3.25" needle/catheter - The same length as previous 14ga ARS except this is a 10ga.
