the pannel with names, height, age and position of the players is pretty common in the manga. In season 4 they tried to make the anime more similar to the manga, with stuff like these pannels and even with the "new" carachter designs.

you're wrong about kageyama btw. they actually imply throughout the episode that he's trying to bring his players up and is feeling pressure from dateko, not playing with worse players. also, i've noticed that unlike other reactions you guys never pause haikyuu, so you miss out on so much detail and get confused a lot. ik this comes across as maybe rude but someone should say it for future reference.

9:00 I guess at the beginning, players didn't need a visual lineup, non players didn't know how to understand a visual lineup, so such a cool display could have been pointless. Now, with some understanding of what's going on (and a new studio with new ideas) this is useful and entertaining. Dateko blocking strategy is very effective against attacks, but has a really annoying drawback: the other 3 defending players must occupy a big chunk of the court on their own, so the best strategy to destroy the iron wall is.. to make little tips behind it. Or on the back of the court, to create disarray in the non-blocking dudes. Oh, imagine Dateko at the next tournament, without Ooikawa, Ushijima...

Agreed, the character introduction screen looked very out of place. Kinds reminded me of those character selection screens from fighting games. They probably used it to save budget for animating stuff.

Best way to explain what happened is that Nishinoya was in the way of the back attacker, Asahi, and while he could’ve just asked him to move he told him to get out of the way in a way that in Japanese can be taken as rude especially to someone older than you
