In England i know that anything with a sauce/sambhar , (basically wet ) is called "curry" i know this is wrong but can you tell me ... when do Indians actually call a dish "curry" ? Very interesting.. i never knew specialist wines are produced in India.

So my two cents on this I might be wrong.. Any gravy dish with a Tomato, onion (in some cases tamarind) and Condiments (chilli, coriander, jeera etc) with accompanying meats (poultry, lamb, fish) and vegetables is what we call as a curry dish Any gravy dish which has lentils as a base like Sambhar, dal thadka and its likes are not called as curries in India..
