Hey love your videos and wanted to chime in on a possible career that would be worth checking out. I went to school to be a electrical lineman and ended up finding my way into the survey side of it. It seems to me that there are a ton of job opportunities for being a survey technician. Anything that has to do with building involves survey work so engineers can have the info they need. It also has a ton of growth potential to go back to school to be a engineer and have the experience of the survey side to help you secure a job Keep doing what you do, you inspire young people to not look down on blue collar jobs and other fields that aren’t considered “cool” to the average person.(so many people want to be nurses lol)

Thanks for the comment! I will check on Survey Techs. Great occupation for people that want to be outside and not behind a desk all day. There are so many career choices out there people don't know about. Many can be quite lucrative.

Could you update with Thrift Savings Plan as a big benefit? Pretax dollars with 5% match and can be rolled when out of federal service if desired. Service members can also do well in their own taxable investments helped by their lower tax bracket and basic needs covered. I am exploring military financial plans for an high school senior. He is used to electronic cash flow management, so direct deposit of pay into a trading fund then paying himself as needed might be a savvy option. My early 90s Army time I was not much for finance savvy.

Tsp matches 5% of your base pay but this only starts after 2 years of service as an insentive for soldiers to stay in. When you enlist thesoldiers contribution is automatically placed at 3% but this can and should be changed once they get their cac card and are able to go into Mypay. Personally, i would recommend that high school senior to open an roth ira to invest post tax dollars in first, contribute the max allowed $6k/yr then invest any excess money into a taxable account. If possible the person should also make an emergency fund.

1.You need a US Citizenship or valid Green card 2. Highschool diploma/ GED/ or anything equivalent 3. You have to score a specific number in the Asvab

No..not absolutely, it is just more like to educate as well but mainly educate to make sure anyone that might join the military of the army or any branch should weigh out their options before committing to it.
