Enlisted Plane Tips/Guide - How to get players off your six and win dogfights

Enlisted gameplay and beginners/intermediate guide for how to deal with players on your six. I was sick of all the players flying straight, and giving up the moment I was on their six, so I decided to make a video to help those players out.
Some context
Reversing turn, is where you roll your airplane 180 degrees either clockwise or counter clockwise.
There are two types of scissoring, flat scissors and rolling scissors. Flat Scissors is an aerial maneuver where the defender (you) is in front of the attacker, crossing in front of his gun sights. An overshoot is where the attacker flies in front of you, and he no longer has the positional advantage to shoot you.

I never thought to use landing flaps. I thought they only do what they say. What I did before was just use combat flaps and lower throttle to about 75. I'll test this ot at some point. That manuver at the start is going to need some practice too.

Without the aiming aid, the plane duels would be way better. But I do understand its importance for novice players

Yes, Im sworn to Bf109. Its easy to deal and outmaneuver P-38, even Mustang and Tunderbolt (Over Normandy). But tell me please how to deal with La-5 and 7 over Berlin???

Great video! I love Enlisted's air gameplay, very refreshing compared to WarThunder. I'm "patiently" waiting for Gaijin to polish things out and make it even more fun, lots of potential.

Thanks, I personally really like it. Skill level is very low for planes unfortunately, a lot of fps players that haven't touched war thunder. Its a good opportunity for duelists like us to teach.

Nicely done! I’m finding my most successful and enjoyable experience in Enlisted is honestly the aircraft. I wish they’d do an aircraft only game mode. Maybe eventually.

But war thunder flying can be done in third person, enlisted is first person only so the flying is a bit different because your view is limited to the cockpit

There's air simulator battles which is the same as in Enlisted but a bit more refined

I dont really find this super useful as an actual beginner, a lot of weird terminology that could mean different things. Just to give some examples; Reverse turn as in just turning the other way or actually doing a U turn on your plane? Scissoring, what exactly does that mean? First you Overshoot??? Throttle up you said, but your throttle was maxed the whole time? Learn your rudder keys you say, but how and when would you use Rudders?? "When you are trying to maintain position", as in what, what positon, relative to the other plane, like when youre behind them? "Useful in positions below your stall speed" So any speed that isnt literally stalling???? Also throughout the entire video, you are fighting their lowest tier slow turning attack plane are you not, using a much better plane. How does any of this apply when youre the one at an actual disadvantage.

Okay thats a fair statement. This video is definitely more for intermediate players, that have some basic knowledge. I'll try my best to answer your questions as simply as I can. Reversing turn, is where you roll your airplane 180 degrees either clockwise or counter clockwise, and is the basis for scissoring, a maneuver I'll get to next. There are two types of scissoring, flat scissors and rolling scissors. Flat Scissors is an aerial maneuver where the defender (you) is in front of the attacker, crossing in front of his gun sights. Why do this risky maneuver you might ask? It's to cause an overshoot. An overshoot is where the attacker flies in front of you, and he no longer has the positional advantage to shoot you. It's what happens here 1:04. The basis is that he had more speed, and he overshot (I am behind him, rather than him behind me). In terms, at 0:59 I reverse my turn (rolled 180 degrees clockwise), crossed in front of his gun sights once at 1:02, and he flies right by at 1:04 (he overshoots). Thats a basic flat scissors. Also I should have been more clear, I didn't have to throttle down in that instance, because I was already much slower than him ( judging your speed relative to his takes practice). What I should have meant is that once he overshoots, try to increase as much energy as you can, by throttling up to 110 and/or raising your flaps so that you can generate as much energy as possible to continue maneuvering! Actually, the P38 G-1 has a better turn rate than the Bf 109 G6, so it is much easier to beat the Bf 109 G6 in a turn fight. However the Bf 109G6 has much better acceleration and is slightly faster. I will make another video where I take a poor turning plane against superior fighters, I just haven't unlocked any of the slow turning planes such as some of the bombers that come at level 18. Once I unlock them, I will post some footage of me dogfighting better turning aircraft, to show the tactics work.

@@adamk3996 Ah, okay I get it now, thank you very much! A video like that would be super useful yeah, though something about the attacker planes Ive noticed is that they have clearly have rear facing gunner seats, but they only have one crew slot.. so maybe they need to get added first for them to have any chance. Or maybe you need to upgrade the planes to max with scrap to get a rear gunner, that would suck. Either way it would be really nice to see how you handle those planes

Ps4 has major issues flying and keeping sight. Wish gyro aim worked for free look. It would be a game changer but it was added for infantry... why?

For some reason my plane seems to yaw or shake left and right making it extremely difficult to line up shots. Not sure if this a glitch in the game or if there is some setting I’m overlooking???

The only time I notice it is if I have Flaps on, slow speed, close to the ground, in a bomber, doesn''t happen in fighters, I tested it, yeh, its only in bombers with Landing, Combat Flaps going at slow speed.

How do you free look so smoothly? Always janky with me, im flying the bf109 f-1 in the moscow campaign and i cant kill shit. Dumped two full mags into an IL and he just flys away. Dont think the damage models are working.... or im doing something wrong.

I understand your pain too. A little tip; fly around the edge of the map and hunt for targets. Only engage if you think you can pull it off. Get as close as you can and then hit either the wing or if there’s an engine on the wing (aim for that). I’m learning this process as well. I like the air play in enlisted but there are occasionally some very good players who know how to fly. In real life, some of the best fighter aces of the Luftwaffe used to use this tactic; get close, fire a few bursts and retreat away. If you start shooting from too far away, you give the enemy time to make a manoeuvre. It is extremely satisfying in this game when you manage to take out a plane with hardly any shots. But it is do able. I have got quite good at evading the dog fighting and just going after air targets that are on the retreat or preoccupied. It’s how a lot of air combat was really conducted. In the simple terms- dog fighting is pointless, an unnecessary risk. So by finding ways to limit having to do it is the best way. Having said that…I do struggle with some fighters who just seem to be able to put turn you within a second. It’s frustrating! Good luck!!

Amazing tips. I have used it to my advantage a fair bit. But I have recently encountered a problem I cannot understand: Sometimes when I'm doing the scissor manoeuvre, my pilot completely loses the control of the plane after reaching the apex, resulting in a wild spin that can never be recovered. Why would that happen? To give more details this is the chain of events that usually happens (but not always): I will get shot from behind (so my plane would not be in the best condition); I will rise up and put my flaps on landing; I will reach the absolute peak possible with that speed; I will keep my hand on the S and put the flaps on UP to basically do a barrel roll (kinda like you did at 0:28); then sometimes my pilot will lose control of the plane.
