Whoo! I've been waiting for this one. I never would have figured out I'm a 4 without knowing subtypes. Already signed up to the workshop.

Oooo I'm interested in how your subtype helped you figure out your type!

I was mistyped as a 2, originally. It never really felt right to me, though. I wasn't worried about having enough love in my life, but I did really want to get along with people. Then I found out that my type is 7. But the generic 7 descriptions didn't feel right either. Then I did an online workshop with Beatrice Chestnut. That's when I realized that I really am a 7 but with a Social subtype. I also learned that 7 with that subtype can commonly be mistyped as a 2.

Yes! It can help you ACTUALLY find your main type. BC is the best 😊

I was kinda thinking about this more and it just popped into my head that the Appendix in one of Dr. Beatrice Chestnut's books has a section for differentiating any two type combinations, which I've personally found very helpful for situations like this. She wrote 4 paragraphs on misidentifying Twos and Sevens, and the last paragraph focuses exactly on the Social subtype of 7. It reads: Social Sevens can look more like Twos than the other two Seven subtypes because Social Sevens are more oriented to being of service to others. Social Sevens may be confused with Twos because in addition to the commonality of being people-oriented, Social Sevens will sacrifice their own needs, in a way similar to Twos’ style, to support the needs of the group. This habit of being conscious of the group and what others might need can make the Social Sevens seem a lot like the friendly, outgoing, generous Twos. However, despite the Social Sevens’ tendency to give more or sacrifice their own self-interest more than the other Sevens, the Social Sevens can still be distinguished from Twos by their knowledge of their own needs and wants and their tendency to avoid difficult feelings. - Dr. Beatrice Chestnut, The Complete Enneagram: 27 Paths to Greater Self-Knowledge, Appendix Does that ring true for you? And yeah, as with Abbey. I highly recommend that book, there is _sooo_ much good information in it that you can't really find in its fullness online.

Great video! May I request a sub-type video series for each Enneagram?

yes! I think that would be awesome. :)

This is really insightful Abbey and I love the graphics that you've included as well. *I think I'm a type 1w9 sx (after 5+ years of trying to narrow it down, lol)

Im a 2 counter type and while I knew right away I was a 2 I struggled to connect to a lot of meme content until realizing most 2 memes are made about how outwardly sensitive or oversharing we are. But Im more of a listener and a shoulder for people
@AbbeyHowe11 ай бұрын
this is a really good reminder of why subtypes are so important... because often memes speak just to ONE of the subtypes of that type

I’m a social 4. It was Bea’s description that really nailed it for me.

@@Jessicaunarex I'm a self-preservation 4, and it was the same for me. I always wondered why I seemed so different from most of the other 4s, I guess my drive to be self-sufficient tends to override my sometimes overwhelming emotional states. I still deeply feel the influence of envy in my life, but I don't really vocalize it much.

As someone who identifies as aromantic asexual, I'm pretty sure I'm SX blind.

This is why many communities and experts now also call it "one-to-one", to kinda dispel the notion that it is explicitly sexual or romantic. As Abbey says in this video ( 2:20 ), it's more of an approach to connecting with others-a desire to have close one-on-one relationships.

I think sexual instinct I'd more to do with stimulation and excitement. Basically it's like focusing on pleasure and satisfaction. INTP 5w4 sp/sx

I've kinda felt like they are closely associated to the Freudian Id (sx), Ego (sp), and Superego (so).
