They also played this at my grandfathers funeral. He passed quite suddenly, talking to my aunt afterwords i mentioned one of my fondest memories was the multiple rewatches of this film we shared (old italian guy loved his spaghetti westerns) I couldnt make it to the funeral in time (from australia to europe), but my aunt requested this as the last piece of music played, brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it now but brings me back to the time we shared. Hope it brings you some comfort too..

It is impossible to put the whole universe Maestro has created in one sentence. Not even in one word. The loss is immense, undiscrabable, and condolences goes to Italy but to the members of human race as well. What is left is that as long as I live, I'll always be blessed with two angelic concerts in Belgrade and Budapest last year. My father and I watched "Two Mules for Sister Sarah" today, my father is an old man to be a father and since I was young my father introduced me to all the bang bang spaghetti films that he knows and love, and most of them Ennio was present with his fantastic soundtrack. Come tutt'ora Sergio leone per i suoi film infatti tarantino agli inizi della propria carriera, non conoscendo ancora tutti i termini tecnici cinematografici era solito chiedere ai propri cameraman "give me a Leone", ovvero "datemi un Leone", per avere uno di quei suggestivi primissimi piani sui dettagli, marchio di fabbrica del regista romano. 🙂

Incredibly moved by this. To think, Ennio Morricone came up with this song in a tiny recording studio, using like 6 or 7 semi "primitive" instruments. Then you see it played by 100 people perfectly in tune and exactly the same way as the 1966 version is nothing short of astonishing.
