It's just my husband and I but I do like to prep. He's a vegetarian from India, I'm a Midwest girl so we eat totally differently lol. Also, on these big hauls, if I have extra on hand then I know I can help others who may be having a hard time. Either by donating to them or making them a meal. During this pandemic we've even given toilet paper to people who couldn't get any from the stores. Now every time we go to Costco I grab a pack just for that reason. Yes, I have four big packs but my kids and/or neighbors won't be without if another shortage happens lol.

A Costco manager in Austin, Texas told me that one of the goals of Costco is to keep families out of their store. They want you to shop once a month or once every two weeks and spend the rest of the time with your family. That really put their big sizes in perspective for me.

Edit: Woah! That was a lot of likes haha, thanks everyone! If you want breakdowns on other videos feel free to tag me 😊 So for anyone wondering how this is cost effective here is the breakdown: $3,700 dollars for on average 5 months of food Her family has 7 members $3,700 divided by 5 is $740 per month. That means each member of her family eats for about $105 a month, or if you're going by weeks $26 dollars a week or $3.77 per day per family member. This is extremely cost effective and smart.

This lady mentioned freezer meals and it's quite possible to really think it through and have your meal ready to heat up when you get back home. Or even have a slow cooker meal prepped the night before and cooking throughout your shopping day. Anytime there's a challenging full-on day or week coming up, cooking & prepping food in advance is such a great help. Anything to help manage exhausting challenges, it's worth it all to be shopped up for six months :)
