Reminds me of the time as a DM I tricked the players into believing the BBEG was good, she hired them to get her throne back, once she had it she betrayed them. They can't defeat her because they fail their poison saves, super weakened they retreat. Without even thinking, because of the time it took them to escape and get out of the kingdom, the "next" session I have a peasant run up to the group asking for help. She gets monk kicked and the party walks away. End of that night because I had nothing else planned.
