Schilling retired with a career postseason record of 11-2, and his .846 postseason winning percentage is a major-league record among pitchers with at least ten decisions.[1] He is a member of the 3,000 strikeout club and has the highest strikeout-to-walk ratio of any of its members. He is tied for third for the most 300-strikeout seasons.[2]

Curt Schilling can't be in the hall of fame because he's a republican ? That just shows you how nasty American politics are. Curt Schilling went to the world series with three different clubs and won with two of them. 3 rings to go with 3, 300 strikeout seasons and we can throw in an 11 and 2 postseason record...... that equals Hall of Fame.

Well, if Schilling's career isn't at a hall of fame standard, then neither it's Andy Pettitte nor CC Sabathia. Curt was better than those two. His ERA was way better than the ones already mentioned. Curt Schilling is probably even better than some pitchers enshrined in Cooperstown, Jack Morris comes to mind and a few others. Even Mike Mussina's career ERA was higher. Three seasons of 300 ks or more, 3,000 plus career ks, 216 career wins, 11-2 record with 2.23 ERA in the post season, you tell that's not a hall of fame pitcher, well tell me what it is. By the way Curt Schilling's career ERA was 3.46 way better than the ones I already mentioned here. Analyze again what some of you might think about his case. The hall of fame is not about politics, it's about on field stats.

Schilling not being in the HOF due to his political beliefs is nothing more than an indictment on the HOF, the voters, and the process. Apparently, the process is corrupted with people who have interests and agendas that overshadow their responsibility to look at a man's baseball career and judge it against his peers. Sad time to be a sports fan.

Calling his stats borderline is just looking for excuses not to enshrine him. ERA is a stupid statistic to base an entire HOF argument around, but if you are going to use it, at least era adjust it. His career ERA+ is the same as Bob Gibson and Tom Seaver. He played in the steroid era with no touch of steroid allegations, so his ERA isn't as low as it could be, but considering the era he played in, it still was quite impressive. He has 3000 strikeouts. That's not borderline - its first ballot. Then you add in his postseason performances. Bottom line, the voters just don't like the guy because his tweets are ridiculous and inflammatory and often strongly anti-journalist. But these same voters gave him the Roberto Clemente award for character during his career. He is a HOFer. I honestly don't think there are many times the writers elected guys that didn't deserve to be in the HOF (most of the random guys that shouldn't be there came through era committees where there is more backroom dealing between the voters). But they really missed the boat with this one, and have left out way or short shafted way too many good candidates during the steroid era while they squabble over what to do with Bonds and Clemens. Cheating the game is one thing and I can understand the voters reservations (even if there are definitely steroid users in the HOF, some first ballot). But not liking his tweets is not a reason to keep someone out of the HOF, especially if you have to make up a borderline argument just to justify it.

@@howarddamico1237 bro just because you are a left winger doesn't mean you need to find random stats to justify yourself. If you were honest in that you dont ignore stats look at this. Frank tanana had 400 less strikeouts but also 900 more innings pitched. So look at K/9 rather than total number. That 10% difference grows to 30% . Moreover, schilling is 12th is K/9 for pitchers with more than 2000IP. Tanana is 116th in K/9 for pitchers with more than 2000 IP. Schilling also had better HR/9 and BB/9 while competing in a more difficult era. Also ERA by itself is a wrong number to compare. Tanana had a worse ERA in an easier era. So you gotta look at ERA+ Curt Schilling had a way better ERA+ than tanana while pitching in the middle of the streroid era. Then look at WAR. Curt schilling had 20 more WAR than tanana while pitching in 900 less innings and one less season (remember schillings started as a reliever). This is only regular season stuff. Tanana never won a postseason game in his career
@acruzro95

@@howarddamico1237 if total Ks dont matter and wins matter so much do you think mark buehrle and frank tanana are better than max scherzer???? Or are you gonna use rate measures like the once i used. K/9, WAR, ERA+, WHIP, etc. Thats how you measure a pitcher not by total wins and total strikeouts. If thats the case scherzer, gerrit cole and degrom wont get to the HoF either becase they will probably have less wins than buehler and only 10-20% more strikeouts than Tanana. Curt schilling had a high strikeout rate K/9 and a bunch of innings pitched (3000+) Scherzer and degrom will retire with similar strikeouts, wins and less innings pitched than Schilling so in your brain with a freezer IQ they wont be HoF either.

Bryant and Kurkjian saying Schilling is “borderline” and “teetering” is nothing short of disgraceful. I guess if you know nothing about sabermetrics, you can get away with that, but it doesn’t make the point legitimate in any way. He has nearly 80 bWAR, is fifth all-time in era-adjusted FIP, over 3,000 strikeouts, the best K/BB ratio post-1900, a fantastic ERA+ of 127, and that’s just the regular season. He is the best postseason pitcher ever, with a 2.23 ERA in the heart of the steroids era, had a 4.09 WPA in the postseason, the best ever. Add onto that being 4-0 with a 1.37 ERA in five elimination games, and his playoff resume is basically flawless. A phenomenal pitcher who is one of the 10 greatest ever. His political views kept him out, but to say that he was borderline in any way just shows how little understanding of baseball statistics that Bryant and Kurkjian have.
