@@billnye7745 Wins don't really mean much. King Felix won the Cy Young award in 2010 even he had the least amount of wins amongst all the candidates. Wins requires a team effort and that's not entirely up to the pitcher. Kurt pitched in countless games he should have won but his team simply didn't provide enough runs. I guarantee he has a better Era and more strike outs than alot of hall of fame pitchers.

@@loualbino5536 when it comes to the Hall of Fame, wins do actually mean something for a starting pitcher. He barely had 5 standout seasons too, and 20 years of work with 216 wins isn’t going to meet the criteria for the Hall. I have nothing against Kurt, he was an amazing big game pitcher and had a few dominant years of work. Although, I can GUARANTEE he won’t make the Hall based off his entire career. The guy wasn’t consistent enough through 20 years.

Getting voted into the HOF can be more of a popularity contest rather than a vote to acknowledge the very best who played MLB. AS a MLB pitcher Schilling is without doubt a HOFer. But he seems to have an adversely relationship with some members of the press who vote in the HOF election. Everyone has the right to free speach, but Schilling has no filter to know from speaking from your hip can cause bad consequences. If Schilling could learn how to keep his mouth shut he'd be in the HOF years ago.

I just never liked the argument of cherry picking certain stats, and then using those stats in a vacuum. Completely disregarding the timing of those stats, the moments the athlete excelled in at the highest level or failed at the highest level, etc. And even worse is using w / l as one of that select few grouping of stats.
