Isa is, translated from old Norse: Ice. It is related to a large bridge that leads to the kingdom of the dead (Gjallarbru),calmness,the creation of the world. The related poem goes: ice,we call it a large bridge, a guide needs the blind. (the Old Norse shaman helped guide the sould of the dead). Isa is the rune mentioned in verse 154, Havamal: Þat kann ek it níunda: ef mik nauðr of stendr at bjarga fari mínu á floti, vind ek kyrri vági á ok svæfik allan sæ.

Yes Enslaved are viking metal. Musically they fall into the Black Metal category, lyrically they deal mostly with Asatruism and other Norse Pagan mythology. Check some of their lyrics if you're interested. FYI their early albums are entirely in Norwegian and/or Old Norse.

We write about vikings so, therefore, some refer us to viking metal, but I have no idea what that is. I can't imagine the vikings veer into metal at all except on the swords and stuff. And musically, I guess they only played these strange lip instruments and some bongos or whatever." So for people out there who believe these guys are Viking Metal. Think again.

That depends of witch dialect you are using. In some dialects we may say: "Vatnet er heilt nedisa". Isa is not a word we're using alone. We often use it like a suffix; nedisa (iced down) Isa it's an old word from some dialects.

Further more i like black metal that can produce a dark atmosphere without using cliche blasphemy.When bands like enslaved combine great aspects of black metal with norse lore it really produces something cold dark and grimmer that really resonates with one of norse blood

easily one of the most innovative black metal bands around today. mixing the pure hate of raw black metal with progressive elements remeniscent to opeth, adding the occasional clean and death growl vocals for more variation, you dont get much more experimental with a genre.

thanks, bytheway, I have a friend with a band but the lack knowledge of music. They write thier songs and try their best but they are not true musicians. It is not only playing music but knowing how it is put together and the science of it oh, and as well as the increadible imagination to bring about new sounds of that genre? I totally like the rebellious spirit as well as the pol. criticism via anarchy but music is also important. I am going to check scar symmetry.
