It's nice to learn how endurance riding works in GB. In Germany it's a little bit different. At first we don't have the hooves and shoes checked by the farrier. Many of us even don't use shoes and use boots instead. Thats even what I do. Then Endurance Rides for beginners are called Einführungsritt (that can be translated with starter rides or something for those who just want to get the experience and want to make sure that endurance riding is the right competition for them). They have distances between 25 and 40 km. Vet check is similar to every other type of endurance ride. Generally you don't have places like first place, second,.... Instead you get put together in riding groups after the ride. That means those who ride something between t5 and t 5,5 (t5 means 5 minutes per 1 km or 12 kmph get to group 1, then 5.5 to 6,5 get to group 2, etc. Here you have ninimum and maximum speed. Faster than t5 means group 0 and too fast so disqualified, same when you get group 4. On some rides you can't start again on this level when you reached group 1, because that's ideal time. On some of those rides even the pulse agfter the ride is part of the placement if there is one. That means that you can have the fastest time, but if the heart rate of te rider 's horse with the second fast time is lower he wins. So it's not just a matter of speed. No speed limit starts at the short endurance rides between 41 to 60 km. In both of those rides you start in smaal groups between 3 to 6 riders and those groups start every 5 to 10 minutes until all the riders are on the loop. On mid endurance rides 61 to 80 the riders start all together, as well as on long endurance rides. Here as well the fastest rider wins when he passes the last checkup 2 hours after crossing the finish line. I hope I could give some information about the "German style". Sorry when there are some mistakes, but I'm not used to usye my English skills every day. Greetings from Germany. And by the way, I love your videos.

That's so interesting to hear how it works over in Germany. I got to ride in Kreuth a couple of times and it was amazing! We have something similar at some events called the performance formula, so it's based on heart rate, speed and presentation time, not always the fastest horse wins. I'm glad you like the videos, thanks for watching x

I've always done fun rides and non-competitive endurance rides abroad but going to have a bash with a friend of mine who's a bit of a pro - always something I've had an interest in but wasn't sure where to start! Ta for the video! x

@@bethendurance My mate was in Team GB as a junior and her two horses are now elderly and retired...she's starting novices next year with her newbie so thought I'd take my coblet to try something new at the grand old age of 17...never too old! I've done le trec on him and fun rides...that's abut it. I spent some time in the UAE and India with the Arabs and Marwaris on challenge rides which was an incredible experience. It's a shame more people don't do it here x

I’ve been looking for equestrian sports to do because I haven’t done much but the basics, I’m 13 years old and I’d like to look into this but I don’t know if I’m old enough and all that

Hello, you can compete in Endurance from the age of 8 as a junior accompanied by an adult. Once your 14 you can ride as a Young Rider by yourself x

@@bethendurance thank you so much :) also, one more question if you don’t mind 😅 do you have to have your own horse to do endurance?
@bethendurance3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, if you can find someone to ride for who will lend you a horse you can enter in them, you don't have to be the owner x

How do you workout your kph with a stopwatch?
@bethendurance4 жыл бұрын
With a stopwatch I used to work out on the map the distance between each checkpoint and then put on my map what time correlated to 8kph, 12, 14 and 16kph so I'd know roughly how quickly we were going based on the time on my watch coming into each check point. Now I use a GPS watch that tells me my average speed and split times 👍

@@bethendurance the gps watch sounds much easier to me! What kind have you got?

I have a polar x3 GPS, but there are loads on the market 👍

Just some video feedback - loose the hair-tie from your wrist. Either tie your hair back, or put it in a pocket. It brakes the fashion on your wrist, and now that it was pointed out to me it became a pet-peeve. (Enjoy... lol) Also, it cannot help with wrist circulation...
