I really like the studio version, but live, Tarja (and Nightwish) always bring something more to it🥰 Also an interesting fact (at least in my opinion🙃): This song is the opening track of the Century Child album. At the end when it fades away the track actully continues straight to the next song, End of All Hope. At least on a computer in Spotify it continues straight with out cutting anything off.

Tarja mostly sings equally well in the studio and live. The band plays it live but a bit more dynamically. Some songs have changed over the years.

There are many great performances of the song. I think one of the best is from Raumanmeri 2003. Because Tarja had a ton of emotion in her voice.

In official video they cut not only part of music, but also second verse:)) Album version of song is beautiful, just like the live versions of this song are beautiful. Nightwish in general are great live, in era of Tarja and Floor, live versions often sound even better than studio ones. That's why I like Nightwish so much.

Though the studio version is great, Tarja really shines during live performances. Definitely prefer the live End of an Era version.

I always like and hear the studio versions iof all the songs when i hear them with my headphones and the live whenever i want to enjoy everything happens during the concert.Both are amazing❤

I'd have to go with live over this version, but the full length album version would be the standard for me. I see studio and live as having different purposes, I never consider live the "default" version, like so many do today. But the whole Century Child album is so well written, performed, and produced, it's probably my favorite album of theirs.

If I showcased the song for someone, I would prefer the Raumanmeri 2003 live one, the remastered video has also so great quality. BUT. I love the music video too, the gothic look they created for it. And it sounds different. For myself, I don't have to choose. I keep both.

This one is shortened version for the music video. I go with the mood which one i prefer. Also the tone on studio version and for Wacken 2013 are very different because Tarja and Floor sing it differently. Studio version sounds more "depressing" with Tarja's dark and sad tone and Floor sings it out loud like "crying out loud" type of way. Tone is different and it's nice there's these two versions. Not sure but i think Anette never sang it. Edit: End Of An Era version is great too.

I think the video has to fit to a time format defined by distributor channels. However, the visuals give a hint of the story unlike the live but I also like the live for instance End of an Era where the beginning with drumming intro by Jukka for instance is great.

Hard to say what is the 'normal' version. For me it is always the album version. So when a live version becomes the normal version for you it is evidence how extremely good they are playing live. Most bands when playing live are trying to be as good as on the studio version. Not Nightwish, they are just amazing live! And music videos are often different because of the laws of the industry.

I enjoy all the versions. Although of the videos they have I would say this is actually one of my least favourites. Wish I had an Angel rocks and Nemo has sone great visuals. There’s a video for End of All Hope that has the vampire theme.

Studio version is ok, but the music video version is just butchered and cut to be short which is sad.
