Thx, for the review. Because of the reasonably good image+fov+overlap this looked good as a 'sim' pcvr headset, but other reviewers also mentioned the heat buildup and lack of ventilation, why I was apprehensive... I've bought a pico neo 3 with DP cable instead. Not perfect, but also good pcvr image and doesn't get that hot

@@thijsazerty692 it's so close to being a great headset for sim racing. The biggest factor needed there is better cooling for sure+ the audio issues. It would gladly be part of my collection for that use alone otherwise, the other things can all be corrected. I'm not exactly sad about going back to my neo 3 link, if anything trying this headset made it feel better in some ways, I will miss the airy feeling viewing through the lenses on the dpvr though

Great review, I say more on professional than enhusiast side. 8:27 strange enough Pico Link app on PC is not required to run in background when using SteamVR does it means it is more direct than this DPVR E4? Also this 1800x1800 StemVR res is unusual, I always thought than bowel distortion correction goes up to headet resolution not the opposite way.

@@juu226 yes, Pico neo 3 link is direct, not driver direct Meaning no software needed for neo 3 link, no extra overhead, you only need Pico link for installing the drivers and changing Refresh rates and controller options, of course needed for wireless pcvr which is then driver based

I can absolutely confirm all the issues you have with this headset. fan noise, light leaking, no place for wearing glasses, heavy cable.... The support is great and they even offererd me to send me a bigger faceplate but at the end I still refunded it. Hope they will update the firmware to fix the software issues at least.

Looking forward to your take on the Q3! Funny how a lot of YT's are touting the Q3, but the PPI will actually be the same as the QP. Since the Q3 uses one display, a lot of pixels are wasted for optical boundaries and no angled panels to offset pixel array jaggies. Also no local dimming, so seems QP owners will have the better overall visuals between the two.

I'm on the fence about quest 3, it's apparently slightly heavier than quest 2, still all front weight (which I don't like after moving to Pico headsets) slightly skeptical on their ringless controllers too, but mainly, I really get frustrated with quest 2 UI, and it'll be much the same on quest 3, basically buying another headset just to get their new lenses, but I don't know how much I'll use it given I don't really use my quest 2 much anymore and it being all the same content

@@rushmore3927 i mean, all pancake lens hmds so far have had the displays glued to and kinda inside of the lenses, so there is no way you can do that with a single display without having any proper ipd adjustment

It's most unfortunate that the only recent real PCVR (Display Port no compression) has to be something like this which falls way short of anything worth buying. I have a Reverb G2v2, it's a amazing HMD for sims, but it's biggest drawback is it being a WMR HMD, oh how I dislike WMR Portal and all of it's idiosyncrasies not to mention the pathetic controllers that come with the G2. Lucky I got my Valve Knuckles to work with the G2. If the G2 would have been a true SteamVR HMD, I would be a happy camper and wouldn't be looking for something new and improved that happens to be affordable (Varjo Aero and Pimax Crystal are out of my price range). Thank you for the in-depth review of this less than desirable HMD.

I understand the lack of IPD adjustment being the immediate killer here, but if all concerns were addressed, this would be a very decent pcvr headset, it's very refreshing when looking through the lenses and is something I'm going to miss. Maybe the E5 will be the actual ''best headset of 2023''

@@virtuallyreal I was hoping that they would eventually update their design and release one that fixes these issues one day, but seeing them use bots to spam comment sections with glowing reviews has really turned me away from this company entirely. It's really unfortunate that this is the closest thing we've seen to a worthwhile PCVR product that isn't way overpriced.

Does the PDVR E4 have head tracking, gyroscope, and 360° head movement, or not? You seem to use it just fine. Can the PICO 4 be powered through the USB-C? Can we now get the PICO 4 in the USA through Amazon legit, or not? I see it advertised on Amazon, but from what ive been watching and reading, is that its not available for USA, yet! I think you’re vastly underestimating the Importance of pancake lens when it comes to VR clarity. That combined with lack of ipd adjustments make this headset doa

What pancakes? See my pcvr comparison, I would say these fresnels are still better than Pico 4. Quest pro are currently the best pancakes, but still have trade offs needed, such as brightness, colours and glare and internal reflections (that replaces god rays)

Great video. It seems like the E4 must be connected to a computer that has a DisplayPort 1.4 (true?). Struggling to find a new laptop that has a good cpu, good gpu, and a DisplayPort 1.4., that I can afford. I went to the dpvr website and I cannot find a section that explains the minimum & recommended computer specs. Do you have a DPVR link or your own spec recomendations?

Well I didn't keep the DPVRe4, the pico neo 3 link is a better buy but not available in US, I can't image myself using quest 3 on pc either with the lack of display port

In all honesty, This Needed Pancake Lenses & Real Adjustable IPD Digital only Gives me Major Headaches & Eye Strain & lazy eye. If It had them I would have Got it. I'm Just gonna Save up for the Varjo instead.

Lenses were not too bad, god rays unfortunately not brilliant but everything else they done pretty well on. Ipd is such a basic thing needed, I'm pretty lucky that my ipd is 64.

Honestly, my only issue is with the heat. I wonder if it would be possible to slightly cut open the headset for the fan? Would that help anything?

That is only option, someone has shared a 3D printed mesh cover that replaces the sealed front mid section however this obviously voids warranty. They obviously know this is an issue as later white versions had vent holes included and the new black version has vents and a reworked heatsink and internal fan position.

Do not buy this VR headset!!!!! it is literally just a quest 2 without any of the standalone features FOR $600!!!! You can literally get a quest 3 and a nice head strap for that price!! You cannot just replace an IPD slider with software!!!!! that’s just not how that works. if your eyes don’t line up with the lenses, the image is going to look like garbage!!

For real VR you need a lighthouse that I got from my old HTC Vive best tracking and freedom to play a cable on the head can't move freely and it's more fun with box games power bank should always stay connected otherwise the battery will run out quickly
