Boy I gotta tell you when I saw that full shelf of yours it completely reminded me of my younger self! When I was your age my shelf looked just like yours - but probably with VHS ‘s then DVDs! After that it was Blu Rays! I’m in my 50s and just getting into this 4K era - but so far exclusively on digital. You see,after filling shelves all these years you just run out of room lol! My VHS are all gone of course but there are still lots of DVDs around- including Many TV shows and movies that I just never felt the need to replace with high end copies. My Blu-ray’s dominate now and include many films that I bought for the 6th or 7th time lol! So now to the issue at hand- I have always found that I just never have had time to even watch most of these so recently I have been buying on digital simply for cost and convenience. But now -to my wife’s dismay-the Physical media collector in me is resurfacing and am ready to begin filling another giant shelf ! The question is which 4 k discs are good to BEGIN with? (My tastes are pretty close to yours - so any recommendations u have are appreciated!) Excellent channel btw!

Love your collection and love that others want to own physical media. I have a collection that numbers close to 5500 titles. I say 'close' because in the last year I added another 200+ to a 5300+ collection but they haven't been added to my Delicious Library as of yet. I don't keep the original covers or bindings with a couple of exceptions: When the art or the disc are quite valuable and then I keep it separately in boxes. I prefer to keep them in boxes which hold 100 discs each. This way, I don't need to keep them in any particular order other than numerical. On Delicious Library I catalogue them by genre/director/actors/year release/ etc. I've been collecting since the mid 90s and since I spent 20+ years in the film industry the majority of my movies were tax write offs (for those of you who think it's ridiculous to spend so much money on physical media).

I love your collection, but you need to organize! Im only missing slips for the accountant and greatest showman (also the revenant which doesn't have one) I like how most of yours have the slips. I have 107 4ks so far, excited to get to 200!

You lost me at Transformers, 50 Shades of Freed, Pitch Perfect, Expendables, Tomb Raider, and Smurfs 🤪 but an interesting 4K collection otherwise. (Mother was not entertaining but was undeniably very original. Should also add the 4K of Apocalypse Now, and if available, Dark City.) I agree with your comment about 2001; the flick looks like it was shot yesterday by Nolan and is arguably the most influential Sci Fi film of all time. 👍🏻

I see that almost all of your 4K movies have paper slips - when i buy 4ks here in Thailand they have paper covers rarely - oonly the plastic box - is it normal ?

16:28 the live action remake of ghost in the shell is honestly a vary different movie from the original. The original doesn’t really feel like an anime and feels closer to something like the matrix.

So, is it worth getting INTO 4K when 8k TVs are starting to come out? Or is 8k just unnecessary?

So few 4k movies are both filmed in 4K or higher AND have a 4K DI. Only 70mm film can be rendered close to 8K, so you could still buy all the non-70mm movies and not have to worry that there will be an 8K version of, say The Matrix. Any upgrade of it, would likely be similar to an 8K movie disc player upscaling a 4K version of that same movie. When 8K comes out, the cost of rendering graphics at 8K will likely mean it wont happen at first. Many 4K movies today are upscaled from lesser mediums so true 8K may be a long way off? Hope that helps.

I know I'm late to your video but just wanted to let u know that the Blu-ray disc that comes with Dredd 4K is a hybrid 3D/2D disc. I have the Blu-ray 3D version if Dredd and the 4K has the same disc as the 3D.

Dude, you just saved me some money! I own the 4K disc and wanted to buy the 3D-version separately. The info is actually on the packaging but very small on the back.

Amazing collection!!! But you should really find a more prominent place to display them. Or you should even consider buying an extra bookcase just for them. 4K's should be displayed on top or middle shelves. It is a sacrilege that your Disney blu-rays are displayed more prominently lol!!!
