The Imbali has unknown origins, he had partnered up as a youngsger with one of the 2 Senior Mbiri males (born in 2011 into the Mbiri pride), until the Senior Mbiri male disappeared around late 2017. This is pure speculation, but he has strong resemblance to some of the Matimba males, since he came from the area he could be a lost son of them but that's pure speculation.

@hello-laura3 жыл бұрын
@Styx I would assume total of x21 still stands? x1 Imbali male-leaves x20 left… If memory serves me correctly I know x5 subadults are upcoming males. 1-3 year age group. x15 left to account for. X6 adult lioness. X9 cubs. No sex determined yet. Again going off memory I am probably wrong but rough estimate.

I absolutely love this channel. I have been an ardent fan of watching the big cats for decades. Could you go into some detail about how YOU believe the cats perceive you in your vehicles? I must assume that it’s an abstract image for them as long as you aren’t walking around. And that you in your vehicles become just visual wallpaper or imagery white-noise in their world. I’ve seen some of the cats come so close to you or jeeps/vehicles with people in them, and can’t help but wonder why they wouldn’t be more curious about you based on your smell and subtle movements. Perhaps us humans don’t smell so alluring to them. 🤔

@@cynthiamasse9596 lionesses will sometime join in to fight off males, especially if it’s enough of them and they have small cubs. If it’s say 3 or 4 males trying to take over and only 5 or 6 females then they probably won’t do anything, but if they have them greatly outnumbered they will.

@styx51313 жыл бұрын
I believe they were 2 of the 6 Black Dam young males, not the. Plains Camp males. They separated for a few days as 1 was seen in the Sabi Sands... But since have reunited with each other. Not sure of their whereabouts as of now though.
@juliedobson30393 жыл бұрын
I think the reverse , because this lone Lion has lots of room with no crowding he doesn’t need a coalition to protect his pride , it’s only when there’s limited area and many lions they form coalitions to dominate an area ?
@toniodee78143 жыл бұрын
That’s not how it works. When males are in born into a pride together (brothers) or around the same time (cousins), when they begin to reach maturity they’ll get kicked out the pride together and form a life long coalition. Just like the females they begin form life long bonds as cubs, the only difference is since they’re males they get kicked out the pride to go take over their own where as the females remain in their birth pride for life.
@styx51313 жыл бұрын
All it takes is a young nomadic coalition of multiple males to realize he's alone, and it could be all bad for him. Plus larger the territory, the larger the area to patrol, and scent mark... If he gets caught alone out on patrol can end up being the death of him. With some of the older subs reaching independence only mean the lioness will soon be in oestrus, which will attract a number of males.
@juliedobson30393 жыл бұрын
I hear what your saying 👍 I’m just thinking that before man encroached onto their land, wouldn’t it have been more beneficial for the pride , for the males to each have a large area with prides of their own to spread their DNA further rather than clump together infighting over the lionesses in their pride and limited food and area, you wonder if they have adapted to mans presence , old footage of Africa shows huge prides big territories and plenty of game they could avoid each other and as you pointed out patrolling a large area would have kept them busy , now they seem to takeover territories as theirs isn’t enough. Devils advocate 🤣

Im confused by the Pride map. Isnt the birmingham breakaway pride west of Ngala and the Manyeleti east of Ngala?So the breakaway pride and Mbiri pride should be on opposite ends of eachother with the Birmingham main pride in the middle? And it seems like the 2 grey colors on the map are switched? The lighter grey should be Mbiri and dark grey should be the core Birmingham pride extending to the west. Correct me if i am wrong.
@styx51313 жыл бұрын
Birmingham pride main core territory is in the Timbivati(Ngala), Birmingham breakaway moves in, and out of the Timbavati, and Manyeleti.
@burakcetav3 жыл бұрын
@@styx5131 The rangers always mention that the breakaway are in the western boundary of Ngala close to Thornybush, while Manyeleti is on the east so that doesnt make sense to me. Also Shindzela camp where they hang out is northwest of Ngala. If they move to the Manyeleti that means they move from northwest of Ngala to northeast?
