The OP in story 3 is not the jerk at all. I remember losing my dogs and my birds was one of the most traumatic things I'd ever experienced and even to this day, nearly six years later, I have a hard time getting over them. I can't even look at the urn my eastern rosella's ashes are in because of it. The boyfriend was totally in the wrong, and is a monster for doing what he did.

story 2: Most of the objections OP raises just sound like the aunt would be miserable and board the whole time anyway. And if she wasn't invited to op parents' wedding why are they being so weird about op's wedding. Like op's idea to have a smaller party with the aunt and things she would enjoy was a very nice and thoughtful idea that would feel much more special for the aunt and let her not be so overwhelmed that she could understand the significance of the event. And maybe she could dress up and be in some of the pictures during the rehearsal. But a full on wedding is stressful and people who are supposed to be fully functional adults often throw childish fits that a 3-year-old would think are ridiculous.

Story 3: From owning pets in the past I know all to well how much the pet can mean to someone. They are part of the family. The people that said "why prioritize something dead over your BF" has never truly owned a pet. If I were the BF the most I would have done to the urn is when cleaning up I would dust it off too so it keeps looking nice and move on.

I think the issue at play here is while what the boyfriend did was very wrong in my opinion it to be brings forefront of her not wanting to confront her feelings about them being gone. A big part of grief is letting go and while there is no set time limit it just seems to me she isn't wanting to let go. I don't think its healthy to hold on to stuff like that. When my last dog died I cried for a god damn week and I couldn't think straight. I got her cremated and while it took me a month to muster up the courage I spread her ashes in the wildlife area we used to go for a walk in everyday. I felt like that was more appropriate then keeping her ashes . She needed to be set free.

Story 1: Okay, first of all, why would the OP just let her stupid aunt stay in her apartment alone like that? That alone is a big red flag. Second, there is absolutely no way the aunt has a "partly torn" ACL if she can both walk and stretch her leg out. ACL injuries are no joke and even mild ones can leave you bedbound. The last story. I have been listening to the house husband story a few times and I have to say that the OP is somewhat of a jerk. The OP feels insecure about being called a house husband even though it is true, how do housewives feel when their partners refer to them as such ? They just accept their role without too much fuss. If the OP truly feels that insecure about it he should find a job instead of making his wife apologize and making the really dumb decision about not doing the chores around the house in protest. I am gonna go against the grain a bit here. While I do agree what the boyfriend did was wrong. The other fact of the matter is this. I think the OP by keeping the remains of the gecko and the other pet is part of a bigger issue of not wanting to confront her feelings of them not being there. I think she needs to grieve and finally let go. Holding on to these items and when the ex-boyfriend threw it away only goes to show she needs help to let go. I want to be clear though. I can fully empathize with what the OP is saying and her reaction. This is purely my opinion. She has the full right to hold on to the things. I don't think its strange or odd at all. Same with something to remind you of you're pets, but there are times when for things like this you need to let go. Because some habits can be self destructive or bad, same with keeping hold of ppl or animals that are gone. Grieving and breaking up with ppl after a long day time after they're passing, will only make you're life less happy and reminding you, they are gone. Everytime you wake up. And see the urn. Better to let go. In my opinion, not saying the bf was right for what he did. But she's not mentally well, if that's how she immediately reacts to such an event. True it was bad. And since it wasn't a long relationship I can't blame her for not knowing her bf was like that, but if this scenario this was her husband who she was years with, and broke up with him only because of that, thats would be evil from her side. No matter who's wrong and right, that's years wasted for something that doesn't change you're future, and is there only to make you grieve. Idk everyone think as you wish. Last story: that relationship is pretty much over, op just can't see it.
