That's exactly why i keep my doors locked at all times. We had a Karen in my complex that was constantly harassing me and other people. I actually got into a screaming match with her once when she walked into MY doorstep and literally got nose to nose with me. All because she thought i was involved in another sketchy neighbor who shot himself in the foot 😂 she would call the cops almost everyday starting from the moment i woke up and sat on my porch to drink coffee. The last time she called the cops, the same officer that had come to every call showed up. Came up to me and could tell i had clearly just woken up. He tells me he knows i didn't do it but had to ask if i was harassing her. Thankfully my upstairs neighbor was outside the entire time because boy did she put that Karen on blast. Apparently she was known for walking into other apartments. Got her responded from several apartments and the landlord kicked her out. Funny thing is she waited a few months and then came back to live with her daughter. This time i ended up calling the cops because she was walking around screaming (normal for her) but this time she was wielding a hammer. Needless to say, she's permanently banned from the property and definitely went to jail 😂

@louloufrechette Жыл бұрын
Not the same thing at all. People who film others without their consent are making money with your face, like it or not. They won’t pay you, they won’t tell you the name of their pitiful channel to make sure you won’t make them removing your picture online, or claim for a salary since they are making money with you. The other cameras are for SECURITY, not for malicious use on You Tube.
@stringfellowhawke2217 Жыл бұрын
Not even close to being the same. They are two completely different things. Security video is for public safety. The video a citizen takes with their camera can be used for commercial purposes. It could be used for almost anything without your knowledge. There could be people making money from your likeness. There could be people recording you and using it on their channels or streams, again without your knowledge. I know I am being filmed in a store, on the street, and almost anywhere, but that isn't like a private citizen with a camera. It is creepy, unwanted, unwarranted, and downright inappropriate. If you ask me if you can record me, the answer will be no. Then you can go on and record all you want. What really should amaze you isn't that people are worried about it, but how people have been conditioned to accept that instead of question it. If you have no reason to record me other than to upset me, then you are in the wrong. I do not care what the law says in whatever state or country you live. Ethics and Legality don't always correspond. Don't be a CREEP!

4:29 I don't know about Canadian law, but in the U.S. if a person blocks you in and doesn't allow you to leave, that's False Imprisonment and/or Kidnapping (depending on how the laws are written in that State). AND you have EVERY RIGHT to FORCE your way through or around them with violence. even with your vehicle!!! they are committing a crime and you have the right to flee a bad situation by any means necessary, BY LAW!!! For example, someone is following you while you're driving, then they speed up and cut in front of you, trying to block you in. You have the legal right to ram their vehicle (or them if they jumped out) in order to flee them. You don't know if they are intending to kidnap you or even kill you, so you have the right to self preservation. This ALSO applies to situations like this one in the video. you don't know why she's preventing you from leaving, so it might just be that she's a bitch, or she might be keeping you there while kidnappers are coming for you.. smash into her and get out of there, then call the cops and let them know what happened and why.... Even IF the cops try and charge you, you'll win in court, easily... AND if you get their license plate, you can file charges against them for Kidnapping/False Imprisonment... Either way. video EVERYTHING that happens to you... video is the best evidence in a courtroom....

UK here. Karens are still Karens or sometimes "Female Gammons". We use Gammon to describe red faced, middle class, angry daily mail types. Oh FYI I have had a neighbour break into my house and go through my drawers and mail. That was one of many things my neighbour did. I told Reddit and it went viral so someone got some amusement from it!
@LemonChick Жыл бұрын
Respectfully you are wrong. In the UK "Karen" is now just used as a term of abuse to stop women, to shut them up, when they are being perfectly reasonable in making a complaint or expressing an opinion. And "gammon" is also a term of abuse and a racist one at that so you might want to think carefully before flinging it about.
@Dove96 Жыл бұрын
@@LemonChick Karen here. Thank you. I stopped using my name for over a year because of the taunts. @@LemonChickWith respect, you need to read more English literature or even a dictionary. Gammon is a term that Charles Dickens popularised in the 1830s. It's in Nicholas Nickleby. It's not racist. Dickens was brilliant at skewering certain archetypes who richly deserve skewering. His target was a pompous MP. Gammon in the same sense was also used by Charlotte Brontë but I forget in which novel. However according to the Oxford English Dictionary its first recorded use is in 1604 "Your devilship’s ring has no virtue, the buff-captain, the sallow-westphalian gammon-faced zaza cries" in John Marston's 'The Malcontent'. Its use in 'The Malcontent' is arguably xenophobic as Westphalia is in Germany (although Germany didn't exist until after the Franco-Prussian war ended in 1870). Westphalia was famous for its pork products, especially ham.

@allanalogmusicat78rpm Жыл бұрын
Side-eye has existed as a concepts and as a phrase for many decades before the internet even existed. "Newly ubiquitous though the word may be, it's not a new term at all. James Joyce used it in Ulysses, published in 1922: A side eye at my Hamlet hat. If I were suddenly naked here as I sit? I am not. Across the sands of all the world, followed by the sun's flaming sword, to the west, trekking to evening lands. But he was by no means the first. Our earliest evidence of side-eye in use is from 1797: Here we come to what calls for the strongest eye-sight, the most steadfast gazing. Our being in Adam has been looked on with a side eye. The subject has provoked dislike; I may almost say, contempt. It is now painful to speak of it. - Remembrancer For Lord's Day Evenings, 19 Mar. 1797 We've also seen some evidence of verb use, with the earliest example dating to 1916, but most evidence dating to the current decade: In his mind's-eye he saw himself associating with actor-folk, who invariably side-eye him and whispered among themselves: "That's Alonzo Gubbins-frightfully wealthy-just about the real backing of the Frohman ventures--though, of course, Frohman is putting up the name and reputation!" -The Arizona Republican, 26 Aug. 1916 I naturally and perpetually side-eye every woman who can rock a pointed-toe shoe with ease. How divine your black, nude or brightly colored shoe looks on your tiny foot. -Lauren Porter, Essence, 23 Mar. 2016 With Zika Virus Headed North, American Scientists Side-Eye Asian Tiger Mosquitoes -headline, Inverse (inverse.com), 9 Mar. 2016 One other thing about side-eye: in these modern times, there's some debate about what exactly side-eye is-in particular, about whether or not a turn of the head disqualifies a sidelong glance from being side-eye. Some say you have to keep your head steady and straight ahead and do it all with your eyes."

The video where the guy was filming people going in and out of the store is "Amagansett Press". He enforces his right to record in public including anything that is visible from public places such as businesses and people. It's totally legal and a big part of what he does is ensuring both the public and law enforcement understand these rights.

@@PAJ3Cub if they are walking around in public, he sure does. He's not going around, peeping in windows, filming kids in the nude. Get a clue!

While legal, it definitely makes people uncomfortable and he gets combative. Some people don’t like their likeness shared without their consent or go through a lot to keep their child’s likeness off the internet. While legal I think there should be respect given to people’s personal boundaries

@@Geektarts People give their OWN phones and all kinds of apps access to their microphone and camera, which they use AT HOME, in places like bathrooms and bedrooms. What these people don't like is being focused on. It's a classic example of how survival instincts have been rendered obsolete by technology but we haven't evolved to the point of not needing said instincts. It's astronomically unlikely that someone simply filming is actually about to threaten your life, food, shelter, family etc. The funny part is, they know it's illegal to assault someone so they don't act on that part of their defense response. But it isn't illegal to simply react verbally in public, so because they get hijacked by emotions all logic goes out the window. It's a fear response.

According to a random Karen back in like 2011, I am single handedly responsible for causing a recession in Canada by purchasing diapers using coupons in a London drugs 😂 She was in my face shouting that I was a thief. That was my first interaction with a Karen
