So many of these have been recycled and rewritten to avoid copyright that we probably heard 3 different versions by now. Then there's the other stories that are literally just stories without an ounce of truth, and not just inconsistent details.

I ride my Harley Davidson a lot... I usually stop and get gas when i am down to half a tank... Half a tank is normally around $12 ... I'll hand the cashier $22 dollars if I have too many $1 dollar bills... Several times a cashier tried to hand me back the two singles and then make change from the $20... I'd say... keep those and just give me $10 change... I guess 22 - 12 = 10 is hard math for some people...

Any story which has the sheriff determining land ownership documents is fake. The most they can or will do is determine if your license has the same address or utilities are in your name to determine if you live at the address

A county, city, state, or federal, etc, can't just take someone's property without a reason. Even in eminent domain has to have a reason and for the good of the public, but still that better be for a very important reason.

The first story sounds FAKE. The police officer WOULD NOT be the person to review the property papers and determine that the guy still owned the property. This guy said that the county sent him a check for all the problems they caused him. The government NEVER just sends you money, you have to FIGHT for every penny for the problems they have caused. It is most likely that this guy would have needed a LAWYER, THEN FIGHT the county for the lawyer fees.
