Been with my husband for ten years now, and we grew up in the same town - so I’ve never been online to date. Thankfully. But if in some parallel universe I were to date again, the first three (at least) dates would be coffee dates only - and I would pay for my own food and drink. I wouldn’t ever want to put myself in a situation where I felt indebted to a dude I don’t know. And let’s be real - it isn’t an audition per se….. but it is an interview. You’re both interviewing each other to assess compatability of personality and vision for the future, synchronicity of values, and attraction/chemistry. If you’re there for any other reason, what’re you even trying to achieve!? The way she’s describing dating is so cynical and transactional.
