Hi Teddy, I've watching your videos lately and I must say, your channel is one of the best out there for the genre. It would be interesting if you could do a video on which one to get between a used Rolex or AP and a new Grand Seiko with spring drive (same price point). I wouldn't buy a Rolex to buy a Rolex but rather get the watch you want. If you want a Sub or GMT, just save up for the Sub or GMT. Settling on a DJ or Air King isn't going to satisfy someone, unless you are a fan of those watches like yourself Teddy. Next watch will probably be a Polar Explorer II. I have fallen in love with that thing and I want a GMT watch. I already have a Sub and Speedy, so I don't want another black on black watch. Pepsi GMT is another watch I crave but the cost is really high and I honestly don't feel like I'm settling by going for the Explorer II.

The Oyster Perpetual is one of those slow-release-appreciation watches. It looks plain, boring and not innovative at first sight. But then you take a longer look and pick one up to get a feel of it. You then start to take in the simple but elegant design that just grows on you overtime. Add in the history behind the oyster case and you've got yourself a beautiful watch that has a timeless design.

I was considering buying an OP or Explorer, but instead I got myself a couple of small SNK/SNX Seiko 5s. I'm so glad I did! They look as good or better, I can share them with my kids without worrying, and wearing them makes me happy in a way my bigger more expensive watches don't. I seriously advise anybody interested in buying an entry level Rolex to try one of those Seikos first, unless it's the brand and associated status you're after.
@coffeeboyclips19735 жыл бұрын
Those little Seikos do look nice, i had a Seiko Sarb033 but when i got a Rolex i realized why it costs so much more. Nothing beats a Rolex. I've had lots of watches in the past, including Tag, Longines, Seiko, Tissot and Hamilton. The experience and feeling a Rolex gives you cannot be matched.

I would also recommend the Oysterdate 6694. With its manual wind 1225 movement it's thin on the wrist. Mine was originally bought by a Korea War/Vietnam War vet while stationed in Germany in 1969/70, bought by my grandfather (his friend) upon his death, later inherited by my father, and recently given to me (an Iraq War vet) by my father while he is still thankfully alive. It has been everywhere from the rifle range to the golf course to a tractor on the north 40. It's been serviced and had crystals cracked numerous times by all the previous owners who were 'one watch' guys. Just came back to me last month after its latest service looking new again. Still has the original dark brown almost black dial with gold markers. If this watch could tell stories, it would cover four lives. Next owner will be my daughter. Will look a bit big on her wrist, but she appreciates its history.

If you wear your watch on your right hand, then a seiko 5 with the crown at the 4 o'clock position makes a lot of sense. Nevertheless, a simple quartz watch acquired at a Wal-Mart will be more accurate than a Rolex automatic. The battery powered watch is essentially digital, whereas the automatic, requires regulation - analog tech being imprecise, more susceptible to measurement error.
@seanbailey3175 жыл бұрын
Kelly KitKat No body Needs a watch these day, I mean everyone has a phone with the time on. Watches are more about enjoying the looks and history of the watch. Sure you can get a Casio for $10 but that’s not he point of mechanical watches in today’s society. They essentially jewellery now.
