From less than 10% literacy to more than 95%. That is impressive. The man just spedrun industrialization and literacy of his country, same took centuries elsewhere. It took the neoliberals 1 decade to destroy the great vibrant industrial economy of Albania, now the criminals butter both sides of their bread with the looted factories.

"Great vibrant industry"? When Hoxha's regime finally collapsed, Albania was still the poorest country in Europe and by some measures the third poorest in the entire world. And in addition it was, along with North Korea, the world's most isolated and one of its most repressive countries. Remember how back in 1973 they sentenced an organiser of a music festival to 25 years in jail, just because he dared to permit rock music on stage? During Hoxha's dictatorship, a third of Albania's population was imprisoned, put in labour camps or exiled.

During his 40-year-rule, he focused on rebuilding the country, which was left in ruins after World War II, building Albania's first railway line, raising the adult literacy rate from 5% to 98%, wiping out epidemics, electrifying the country and leading Albania towards becoming agriculturally self-sufficient. Although I criticize Hoxha's isolationism and his building of many many 173,371 bunkers out of delusional paranoia that caused the downfall of the communist government, because of the amount of money and materials that was unecessarily spent. I can't deny and should applaud him for literally developing the economy in the first place, increasing the living standards of the everyday Albanians, and making most Albanians literate still. @@janzdrojewski3586 Well Marxism-Leninism has been far more practical from a historical point even with centralized leadership, planning, etc. Principles such as vanguardism an educated vanguard party comprised of members of the working class leading and educating other members of the working class before, during, and after the revolution has successfully achieved successful revolutions and socialist States in many nations throughout history. Also, Socialism in one country allows for the building up of the economy and military, most often through five-year plans BEFORE exporting the ideology abroad. Also, Socialist Patriotism has allowed for the acknowledgement of the accomplishments of Socialism within a particular nation. Most Socialist nations in history have been Marxist-Leninist.

@@mutiilation4038 Communism involves a stateless, classless, moneyless society with the means of production held in common. The nations which you would most likely classify as having featured or established "Communism" were only Socialist, most of the time, State-Socialist, Marxist-Leninist nations which were merely in the transitory stage between Capitalism and Communism. Socialism has done many good things such as improve literacy, healthcare, education, housing, standards of living, qualities of life, increased lifespan such as in China, turned feudal backwaters into economic superpowers, won the Second World War, industrialized nations, increased rights for minorities and women, improved democracy, etc. According to the study from 1986 by S Ceresto and H Waitzkin PhD called "Capitalism, Socialism, and the Physical Quality of Life" given equal levels of economic development, Socialist nations on average had higher standards of living than Capitalist nations, also, according to that same study, given equal levels of economic development, Socialist nations had higher levels of caloric intake, meaning contrary to popular belief, people in socialist nations actually eat more food than capitalist ones. Socialism has evidently greatly increased prosperity.

@sup boy Communism involves a stateless, classless, moneyless society with the means of production held in common.

The Party of Labor of Albania has considered considers, and will consider the Soviet Union as the savior of our people [...] Our Party has educated, educates, and will continue to educate our people with a great love and loyalty towards the peoples and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. [...] The Albanian people will throw themselves in to the flames for their true friends, and the Soviet Union is such a friend of the Albanian people. And these are not empty words. I am expressing here the sentiments of our people and of our Party, and let no one ever think that we love the Soviet Union and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union for the sake of some one's beautiful eyes or to please some individual, but because without the Soviet Union there would be no free life in the world today, fascism and capitalist terror would reign supreme. This is why we love and will always be loyal to the Soviet Union and to the Party of the great Lenin. [...] [T]he Party of Labor of Albania and the Albanian people have shown in practice how much they love, how much they respect and how loyal they stand to the Soviet Union and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, [...] We, Albanians, take the courage as Marxists to criticize these comrades not because we hate them but because we think highly of them and because we love above everything else the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Soviet people. - Enver Hoxha, 1960
