Miriam Bellard always gives such insightful talks. Bombs of condensed knowledge. I feel like I will watch it 3 times at least to take it in fully.

Because Rockstar Games is such a secretive company because of NDAs and because of the fact that Sam Houser is rarely interviewed we have almost no idea of what goes on inside it’s studios and during development. To have one of its devs show and tell us what goes on behind the scenes of GTA Online is like a Bigfoot sighting and it’s fascinating.

I really like enviromental storytelling, it adds a lot to the player experience fleshing out characters and world, it's one of the many things that make Rockstar such a great game developer.

This is a very in-depth guide and helped me personally to connect concepts I know from art & acting with level designing and influence on players. Very nice talk

Thanks. For my personal learning style I would have preferred an example-driven lesson though. I mean, she's the Head Honcho of the GTA 5 art team, she could have given loads of excellent examples from the game: "Here's how we did this specific thing to reach this effect. If we had done it this other way, we would have gotten this other effect. The general principle this is an example of is XY." So start every concept you are explaining with an example that fleshes it out. This would have helped me more in understanding how to design games than a rather dry, academic power-point hierarchy of definitions of psychological terms.

Wrong about the chair sizes. If it's 1st person then the larger chair makes the player feel larger. Because the mind establishes the size of the character according to the chair size. But the steps are almost right. If you climb the pyramids at Giza you really do feel small. Additionally, Kings have thrones, very large chairs, to make them feel bigger. So yes, you have the chairs wrong in your opinion.

I mean I get it, but after experiencing it first hand - unfortunately it's not translated in an organic fashion enough, yet. Interesting to learn people actually can differentiate numbers by colors though. this is my second play through so i wonder what gems i'll hear on my third and fourth play through

Okay. I'm new to environment art for. G. games and all this is just so overwhelming. I love it, but this will take forever to get past the research phase. Hold me, I'm scared.
